Summary
Rakel is a princess who should have been queen.
Instead, as a despised magic user, she has spent most of her life exiled on a barren mountain, alone in her ice castle. But her empty life is shattered when an army of magic users invades her home country, bringing cruelty and darkness in their wake.
Rakel refuses to watch as the people who’ve scorned her are attacked, imprisoned, and even killed by the invading army. Swallowing her fear, she joins forces with her jailers and uses her magic in a way she never anticipated: on the battlefield.
But one of the invading colonels is different.
When enemy Colonel Farrin Graydim meets Rakel he is immediately intrigued by her. Her harsh rejection of an offer to join their cause only deepens his interest. He admires her unflinching strength, but his bloody past makes him utterly unworthy to stand beside the purity of her ice and snow.
Can Rakel defeat the invasion and free not only her people, but Farrin as well? For if her magic cannot defend her homeland, all is lost.

great read.
I'm a huge fan of Sheas books but reading is a chore my wife read these books to me a year or two ago and when I saw that they where on audible I bought it immediately and it's just as good the second read as the first. I recommend anything k m Seah any time.

Great Narration
A wonderful story that I reread every year. I was excited to hear it read aloud. Hopefully, we'll get the entire fairy tale series narrated in the future.

Great book and great performances.
I love all of KM Shea’s books. This audible performance makes the books come alive! I hope the rest of the author’s books come to audible.

Love K.M. Shea Stories!
I love her books and even more that this was a bundle. K.M. Shea has a way with making her books show that you can be a heroine as well as a damsel sometimes. Also loved having two voice actors for each main character's point of view. Thank you for all the extra short stories included! I didn't get to read them before and it was the icing on top for this series.
Now for the Fairy Tale series as follow up!

Finally!
I have loved this series since I first read it and have long wanted it to come to life via audiobook! While some of the names are pronounced differently than they were in my head, the storytelling is wonderful and the narrators do a wonderful job bringing the characters to life.

Loved it! Loved it! Loves it! I've waited so long to have some of K.M. Shea's books on audio. I was so thrilled to see this and have hopes of more being recorded. That would make my day.

Not cynical
I guess I’m not as cynical as I thought. Because I loved these feel good stories, and would like to think that it could happen. I did catch myself thinking ‘oh yeah, that’s going to happen’, but as the story says there’s always hope. The whole story is actually told in the first two books. The third book is a series of short stories, further defining the viewpoints of characters or expanding on the results of the actions taken.

The superior snow queen story
I originally read this story about a year before frozen came out. While the Elsa fever swept the nation, I kept thinking that it was beautifully animated but an inferior story to K M Shea’s version. Strong characters, consideration of what royalty means beyond getting to wear a pretty dress, and realistic emotional depictions are the cornerstones of this author’s work, and some of the reason’s I enjoy them all so much. Highly recommended. The four star performance review is just because some of the dialogue is read a bit too quietly to be easily understood at the same volume as the rest of the narration.
