Cast Iron Farm.....

The Cast Iron farm series has been very enjoyable, gentle with lovely characters. This, the fourth in the series brings us to the significance of the Chrystal Cave and veers into the otherworldly arc of the story. The author has displayed considerable patience in getting her audience to this point, a destination she must always of had in mind ?
I feel that AS may of ran out of a few ideas because this episode is 'literally' mostly made up of-fetching,eating takeout and cooking chicken, burgers , pork butts making tomato sarnies and having fish outs !
The clan may love their grub but don't mix it up much. The concept that a group of family and friends live like they do in a loving, kindly, hard working way is great ! I missed Brad (who came into his own in book three), he was back home in school.
I still have an issue with the narrator who just doesn't get Whit right and makes Mack and Zack sound oriental, Mitch seems to of gone back to being a youngster and Julia a little butch in this interpretation ! There's also the issue of not always differentiating between characters voices , so its not always clear who is talking.
I really like the series and like most avid 'listeners' invest in and get to know the nuances , which means I/We pick up on discrepancies/ continuity between books. I am about to start the last in the series and will be sad when it ends !
