Summary
Crease is known in Weaver as ‘the bug guy’, the man who takes care of insects and other critters. But what emerges from the shadows of the town’s waste plant is beyond anything found in nature.
Fist-sized cockroaches. Bird-sized wasps. Spiders, millipedes, ticks, all swollen to enormous bulk with vicious appetites to match. And other things, creatures that should never exist.
Through the night, they come, slithering, buzzing, scuttling, crawling over skin, burrowing into flesh, making the town their nest.
Time is soon running out for Crease and the other survivors, as that hideous skittering noise closes in from all around....

Loved It
Do you like bugs? This book is for you.
This is the first book I've read/listened to by this author, but it won't be my last. I loved every minute of this horrific adventure; like James Herbert's The Rats, but with hordes of mutated insects causing death and destruction rather than giant rats. Told well by the narrator, I couldn't get enough of the disgusting details told within.
Also, in contradiction to the clear moral of this story, kids: drugs are bad.

Disgustingly gorey and viscerally written
Fantastic body horror, with absolutely visceral language that made your skin crawl. Well written and made me cautious of every bug I came across whilst listening.

Like something from Tales From the Crypt
Not a good as The Bookshop from Hell, but still a very good listen. Very graphic with details of gore and terror. I wouldn’t want to come across any of those bugs.

Jeff Harding is by far the best American narrator
If this book was a movie it would be B movie. why Jeff Harding decided to narrate it is a mystery but his narration was the only reason I listened to the end.

Creepy idea, poor dialogue and narration
It started out ok, but the clumsy dialogue and horrible nasal narration made it unbearable. I'm calling time at chapter 7.

insane book
wow most relentlessly insane plot in....the....world. Not for the squeamish but enjoyed it all the same. Jeff Harding always does a good job narrating.

A fun throwback to the pulpy horror paperbacks of the '70s and '80s
A chemical spill leads to a small town hospital becomming the epicenter of a battle between man and millions of flesh-eating mutant insects. Lurid descriptions of people being devoured alive or infested in increasingly gruesome fashion. This book is a love letter to the days of dog-eared paperbacks by writers like James Herbert and Guy N. Smith. It's fun and schlocky, although the narration quality takes some getting used to.
