Summary
The Saint of War spares the life of a servant girl so she can fulfill her destiny as the kingdom’s greatest warrior in this short story of love and loyalty by New York Times bestselling author Alix E. Harrow.
Always mindful of the debt she owes, the girl finds her worth as a weapon in the hand of the Prince. Her victories make him a king, then an emperor. The bards sing her name and her enemies fear it. But the war never ends and the cost keeps rising—how many times will she repeat her own story?

Just remarkable
Alix E. Harrow remains my favorite new writer, and everything of hers I read is just more and more beautiful.
This short was available free on Amazon, both the ebook and audio book versions - I checked out both. I recommend reading it to absorb the beauty of the prose, and listening to the excellently narrated audiobook to absorb the story.
A unique, fantastical myth similar to a favorite movie of mine: The Edge of Tomorrow, with the woman as the main character. I'm honestly obsessed with this world and the history and magic (technology?), and it's just a short! For Harrow to have created something so fascinating and deeply interesting in so few words is honestly remarkable. And the bravery of writing a short story in fugue... she is for sure one of the best modern writers out there.
As always, looking forward to reading more of her work 😁

Very interesting
Quick listen! Don’t love the narrators male voices but can over look that since the story was so good.

Short but sweet
This novella is very short but lacks a huge punch. It is gorgeous, poetic, and sad. I wish I had a full sized book of it.

Beguiling
My first introduction to Ms Harrow. This is a beguiling short story of reincarnation and karma. And, oh look, I have a book of hers on my TBR list for over a year. lol.
Part of the Kindle Unlimited catalog.
