About this listen

Ben's double life continues at the Royal Institute of Magic. To most, he's a talented apprentice and an exceptional spellshooter, but Ben is also a Guardian, responsible for uniting Elizabeth's Armour, the only artifact powerful enough to overthrow the evil dark elves.

With two pieces of the armour secure, finding the third may be Ben's toughest challenge yet. His only clue is a magical key, a tenuous link to a legend called the Silver Dwarf.

With the dark elves slowly conquering the Unseen Kingdoms, Ben races against time to gather the pieces of armour and unite the Guardians entrusted with them. If that wasn't hard enough, new challenges and old enemies await him at the Institute, and his friendship will be tested like never before.

They just get better and better

I think I'm finally getting used to this ".....said" quotes. the books just get better and better as the books in the series go on. I loved every hi it of this book and completed it quicker than the previous ones. there was much more action and detail in this on than the previous and Kenny just keeps showing how many different voice types he can produce in impeccable fashion.
Lastly I must say that the way the book ended couldn't have been any better way to end and leave for the next book to start. I mean it was absolutely perfect. unfortunately for those reading I'm not skiing it so you'll need to listen to the whole book yourself to enjoy it. you also can't just skip to the end to fully experience the greatness either as the end is linked to previous chapters which have important info for you to digest first. there's nothing else I can say about this book that those who have gotten to book 3 don't already know. as far as I'm concerned of you're about to listen to book 3 then you already deeply enjoy this book. A couple spoilers I could say are that they find the breastplate and they also enter the void. Let's just say the void was interesting and the obtaining the breastplate was life threatening.

Narrator sounds permanently surprised

I was horrified to discover there were so many of these, as my wife is enjoying them. I can’t stand the narrator, and I cannot fathom why other people think he’s marvellous. It’s the intonation: the man reads every single sentence like it’s something surprising.

I am doing my best to avoid listening, so I don’t know the answer to my not-quite-rhetorical question: What on earth does he do when something surprising happens? I suppose he could try sounding surprised, but how would anyone notice the difference?

It doesn’t help that the content is so clearly based on Harry Potter, but I can hardly blame Mr Kenny for that.

Disappointing

I have a feeling book was rushed... there are inconsistencies in the story and illogical reactions/behavior from main characters. Really disappointing especially after great first two books. Not sure, if it's worth to continue reading... :(
