Summary

Five footprints are the only sign that Daniel Buck was ever here. And now they are all his mother has left.

Every day Anna Buck guards the little prints in the cement. Polishing them to a shine. Keeping them safe. Spiralling towards insanity. When a psychic offers hope, Anna grasps it. Who wouldn't? Maybe he can tell her what happened to her son....

But is this man what he claims to be? Is he a visionary? A shut eye? Or a cruel fake preying on the vulnerable? Or is he something far, far worse?

beautifully read

I have read lots of this authors books now and enjoyed every one of them. always well written and clever storylines. Had this on audible whilst working and was hooked straight away. Andrew Wincott is easy on the ear and i enjoyed his crystal clear tones, perfect timing and character portrayals very much, but of course he is a pro. Wish all narrators could be so good. can't wait for my next B Bauer book.

Another hit.

After enjoying Rubberneckers I was looking forward to Shut Eye and I wasn't disappointed. Fast paced and compelling throughout with few surprises along the way. Again a terrific narration by A.D. Would recommend.

What happened to edie?

Second book I’ve listened to by this author and they are pretty good although again the main protagonist is the usual tragic character

Another stonkingly good Belinda Baur

Gaspingly great pace, Belinda Baur's weaving of human frailty and vulnerability into every character brought me on occasion to my figurative knees and often literal whoops.

First class narrator who managed the spectrum of voices just the way my mind's ear would have.

I loved this!

great story and narration

Andrew is a fantastic narrator, really put over the individual voices and characters very well

I love Belinda Bauer!

Great story, lots of little details along the way to make you smile, despite the grim subject matter. Lovely rounded characters too, and realistic conversations. I’ve listened to all of Bauer’s novels multiple times and grumpy old Marvell is definitely a favourite.

Bauer Didn't Disappoint!

If you could sum up The Shut Eye in three words, what would they be?

Damn Good Listen!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Shut Eye?

The inspector and woman on the bridge.

What about Andrew Wincott’s performance did you like?

A comforting, easy to listen to voice.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, not really. Parts of it needed a little time in between.

Any additional comments?

A gripping story.
