About this listen

A brand new audio edition of Agatha Christie’s thriller, the first to feature Superintendent Battle and ‘Bundle’ Brent.

Little did Anthony Cade suspect that a simple errand on behalf of a friend would make him the centrepiece of a murderous international conspiracy. Someone would stop at nothing to prevent the monarchy being restored in faraway Herzoslovakia.

The combined forces of Scotland Yard and the French Surete can do no better than go in circles – until the final murder at Chimneys, the great country estate that yields up an amazing secret…

Love this book!

I've listened to this a couple of times, a great story line and told brilliantly. Agatha Christie never disappoints.

Brilliant thriller from Dame Agatha

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Definitely, it's a long one though, perfect for long drives.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lord Caterham, so well played, made me smile...

Have you listened to any of Hugh Fraser’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Hugh Fraser never fails to create amazing tension and humour combined, he really brings characters to life,

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The girl guide part.... Sad.

Any additional comments?

I recommend this book to anyone on a long drive or really wanting to get their teeth into a great thriller. I decorated my lounge listening to this, it made the job much more palatable!

Keep guessing?

Agatha Christie at her most mysterious and enigmatic.
Kept me guessing all the way to the end.
Lots of twists and turns along the way but thoroughly enjoyable all the way to the denouement.

Excellently narrated Christie

The Secret of Chimneys is one of Agatha Christie’s stand-alone novels. A little absurd and of its time but a very enjoyable listen. Hugh Fraser’s superb narration keeps the listener engaged and amused.

Unexpected twists and turns

This story, although a little dated, contained unexpected twists and turns. The reading was excellent and presented the characters well.

Agatha’s plot twists

As always Agatha keeps tempting you to think you’ve seen an inkling of background and story and motive… but you always get it backwards! Well read, as always!

Great twist

As per usual an excellently reading off Hugh Fraser, and some great characters.
Really enjoyed listening to this, a book I couldn’t put down to capture a phrase.
