Summary

This key to the world's esoteric traditions unlocks some of the most fascinating and closely held secrets of myth, religion, and philosophy. Unrivaled in its beauty and completeness, it distills ancient and modern teachings of nearly 600 experts. Compelling themes range from the riddle of the Sphinx and the tenets of Pythagorean astronomy to the symbolism of the pentagram, the significance of the Ark of the Covenant, and the design of the American flag.

Acclaimed by Publishers Weekly as "a classic reference, dizzying in its breadth", this remarkable resource was compiled by the founder of the Philosophical Research Society. Author Manly P. Hall examines the secrets of Isis along with arcane aspects of mystic Christianity and other religions. Fascinating surveys cover topics as diverse as Kabbalah, alchemy, cryptology, and Tarot, along with Masonry, gemology, and the identity of William Shakespeare.

Read the physical book until a better recording

This was a serious disappointment. Never before have I heard quite so many words mispronounced. Now, providing you can at least make out what is being said, this would be jarring but forgivable. What really makes this unlistenable, to the point that I returned it after listening for a couple hours, is that the false starts and mistakes of the reader are retained in the recording, such that the recording contains the error, a pause, and then the reader simply starts over.

I have been hoping a recording of this would be produced for ages, but unfortunately this doesn’t do the job.

Amazing body of work but poorly read.

One of the esoteric greats by one of the most incredible minds of our times when it comes to occult knowledge and history. Many of manly p halls lectures are on YouTube and I just wish he could have narrated this book, unfortunately the lacklustre reading just didn't cut it for me.

The poor audio performance

The spoken delivery of the AI voice is awful and make this unlistenable, a great shame for such a great book

I actually shouted at my phone to shut up.

OMG! is the reader AI or something. He seems to have lost all faith in comma's and full stops. In the 3 chapters I struggled through, I counted 5 repeated lines, which were failed to be edited out; this being the most basic editing you can expect from an audiobook production. I don't believe I've ever listened to an as bad a production, even from some dude, on YouTube! Rushed every single line, losing all flow, pacing and nuance. There were moment when 4 sentances were spoken without a single pause. Deleted.

As the title suggests I shouted at my phone to shut up and turned it off. I want my credit back.

it's a real shame as the content is fantastic and I have the book. I just wanted to be able to listen to it whist I was doing other things. shame, a real shame. Enough to make me leave an extended comment. Strange how emotional the destruction of a classic can get but what ya gunna do.
