Summary
This history is a stunning introduction to House Targaryen, the iconic family at the heart of HBO and Sky’s Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon.
For hundreds of years, the Targaryens sat the Iron Throne of Westeros while their dragons ruled the skies. The story of the only family of dragonlords to survive Valyria’s Doom is a tale of twisty politics, alliances and betrayals, and acts both noble and craven. The Rise of the Dragon chronicles the creation and rise of Targaryen power, covering the history first told in George R. R. Martin’s epic Fire & Blood, from Aegon Targaryen’s conquest of Westeros through to the infamous Dance of the Dragons – the bloody civil war that nearly undid their rule for good.
The Targaryens – and their dragons – come vividly to life in this audiobook, which includes a bonus supplement packed with all-new artwork.
Perfect for fans steeped in the lore of Westeros, as well as those who first met the Targaryens in the HBO and Sky TV series House of the Dragon, The Rise of the Dragon provides a must-have overview for anyone looking to learn more about the most powerful family in Westeros.

waste of money and time
this books is literally just the middle 9 hours of the fire and blood audiobook, word for word. lazy considering it is advertised as a different book. the narrator is very dull. buy fire and blood instead. it's exactly the same but much longer, and its narrated by Simon Vance who does a fantastic job

As dry as dust
This is just a long list of dates. characters and events. I listened for almost 2 hours waiting for something to happen. I then gave up.

Bitter Disappointment
Don't bother downloading if you are a fan of the series, it a dry, boring listing of constantly monotonous names of who did what and when with no storyline to speak of. It is so bad I am considering returning the book. Was it even written by the same author? If it was it explains why the last book in the series has never been released, because he has seriously lost his touch.
The only good thing was it was read well by the narrator who has a lovely voice.

Less detailed rehash of Fire and Blood
This is a less detailed and completely pointless abridged version of part of the fantastic Fire and Blood book. With the interesting bits taken out. Fire and Blood made you late for things since it made it impossible to drag yourself away from it. This is boring, we completely lost interest because nothing happens, even the artwork they send you a pdf of is of poor quality.
Do Not buy.

Fire and blood
Absolute scam, just get fire and blood, it tells the exact same story far better.

Just listen to Fire & Blood
This is a waste of time for anyone that has read / listened to Fire & Blood, literally the same story just written in a slightly less interesting way.

Mehhh
It’s basically the same as fire and blood. thought it would be more in-depth with just the feelings of the rulers not the events.

It’s just an old book renamed
It’s pretty much the same book as fire and blood which was released around 2019.
I noticed pretty early on but I thought the stories must just be overlapping and at some point there would be something new.
There wasn’t.

Boring
Just like listening to a dictionary being read aloud. I was disappointed to say the least
