Summary

Liberals scoff when conservatives denounce Obama and his policies as socialist. After all, they argue, Obama isn’t Stalin and America is nothing like the Soviet Union. But socialism doesn’t always resemble the Berlin Wall or the Iron Curtain, as National Review editor Kevin Williamson proves in his new book, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Socialism.

In this new P.I. Guide, Williamson reveals the truth: despite what the liberal politicians and leftist pundits would have you believe, the policies coming out of Washington today are nothing more than socialism disguised as equality and justice for all. Tracing socialism back to its roots, Williamson defines this misunderstood ideology, explains the different forms socialism takes on, and shows how it is thriving right here in the United States in the form of “Obamacare”, financial regulations, and more. Offering conservatives the political and rhetorical ammunition they need to combat the liberal lies about one of the most misunderstood ideologies in modern history, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Socialism reveals why everything socialism purports to do, the free market does better.

Critic reviews

“Kevin Williamson methodically demolishes the allegedly angelic good intentions behind socialism to reveal the demonic consequences of its implementation.” (Jonah Goldberg, editor at large of National Review Online)
“Williamson shows why the problem with socialism isn’t just that it hurts the economy, but that it undermines all the institutions that allow a free society to function—and that is why it can’t coexist with liberty.” ( Mark Levin)
“Kevin Williamson cuts through the confusion about socialism, providing long overdue clarity and precision.…[This] book is scholarly, informative, and absolutely fascinating.” (David Limbaugh, author of Crimes Against Liberty)

Socialism literally ALWAYS fails

Plenty of objectivity to destroy the left wing, socialist nonsensical narrative! Those people will HATE this! A great comprehensive guide to the true horrors of socialism, capitalism, Marxism and a reminder of the abhorrent national socialist movement of the early 20th century. Capitalism always wins.

A Good Overview of a Perilous Ideology

Williamson has written a helpful guide to a slippery concept, which has wreaked havoc across the world over the last few centuries.

He looks at Socialism in it's different guises, from the obvious monstrosities in places like China and Cambodia to more subtle but still malevolent forms. The latter includes places like Sweden, which has only proven his point more forcefully since this book was written. It's not the utopia socialism's advocates have long claimed it is and Williamson demonstrates why.

This is a good overview and regrettably relevant as this parasitical political philosophy has refused to disappear, only mutating.

To his credit, the author shows how economically naive and immoral Socialist systems are in theory and on practice. Offering a nice alternative to nonsense slogans about Socialism and Communism: "That wasn't real Socialism", "Communism is great in theory", etc.

Same ignorant misguided Right Wing garbage

Usual right wing Propaganda, misguided fake news garbage. They are trying to push the idea that Socialism is the same as Communism and even Fascism. I'm sure those who are looking for a book to reinforce their ignorance, will find it in this. but otherwise waste for timenandnenergy for all concerned.

Socialism is the new boogeyman word

The author seems very confused, thinking socialism equals naziism, fascism, nationalism, bad democratic policies and everything whatever is bad equals socialism even if the mentioned policy is running in a fully capitalist country. He calls Hitler's national socialism- socialism based on a quote from Julius Streicher who's only job was printing dirty antisemitic propaganda and a quote from a Hitler speech from 1927 six years before he came to power. Also, apparently because the British NHS is socialist, you regularly get psychotic nurses assaulting and stitching up elderly patients in hospitals. What a nonsense. How many Americans die because of lack of medical insurance? The boogeyman the author should have been looking for is called authoritarianism. I would recommend the book "why nations fail" as a good alternative to this populist nonsense.

The Incorrect Guide to Socialism

Utter tripe. There seems to be a theme with free titles of this nature on audible. One could be forgiven for thinking there’s an agenda here. Who new Amazon was ultra capitalist 🤣👀🙄
