Great Sci Fi

Great story from start to finish really rooted for the charters which was a lot to do with excellent narration. Hope the next book I listen to will be half as good 👍

A Middle-of-the-Road Sci-Fi Adventure

The story is just okay. I mean, it is decent, but it's not exactly setting the sci-fi world on fire. There's a certain lack of that 'wow' factor you hope for when exploring new worlds and concepts.

The characters, too, fall into the realm of 'meh.' They're there, doing their thing, but don't expect any deep emotional connections or mind-blowing personalities. It's like they're ticking off the boxes of what a sci-fi character should be without really adding anything special to the mix.

Now, don't get me wrong; "Orbs" manages to keep things interesting enough to prevent me from hitting the stop button. But here's the kicker – if it weren't part of the Audible Plus catalogue, and I had to throw down a credit for this, I'd probably feel a bit disappointed. It just doesn't scream 'credit-worthy.'

And let's talk about the AI's voice. Annoying might be an understatement. It is supposed to be an awakening AI, that discovers self, but It's talking like a robot with all the enthusiasm of a malfunctioning vending machine. It definitely took away from the overall experience.

In the end, "Orbs" is a middle-of-the-road sci-fi adventure. It's not bad enough to make me regret the time spent listening, but it's not memorable either. So, if you're scrolling through the Plus catalogue looking for something to fill your time, sure, give it a shot. But if you're contemplating spending a credit on it, you might want to think twice. There are better options out there.

First two books were acceptable - the remaining debatable

The first two books were ok, the story was never going to be believable but it had some merits. This is not an author who knows how to layer information to keep you drawn into the ecosystem and it became obvious that there were huge plot holes. I started to get frustrated when every main character who got killed off managed a complete swan song at the end (it even became comical) - books 3 and 4 were just drawn out and rambling presenting the antagonists with 4 terrible options and then managing to put them through each one, one after another. My system reset during book 4 and I couldn’t even be bothered to find the position again to restart listening so I marked it as complete. The end.

An interesting story

As an included book I won’t complain too much as I listened to it all. It could have been better researched in some areas and the narrater tended to shout and yell too much for me but otherwise it was worth a listen.

Excelent piece of Sci-fi

One of the best series I've listened to. Kept my imagination and emotions going crazy so thank you to the author and the narrator. What a masterpiece!?!? Narrator really does it justice

so fat so good

just a few hours in, but quite enjoying it so far. nothing surprising me as yet, but then I've read so much sci fi, I can generally predict storylines. that doesn't detract from the book though, I'm glad I gave this a chance.
