Summary

An unforgettable story of past love and family secrets, set in sunny Seville.

Holly loves making marmalade. Now she has a chance to leave her stressful city job and pursue her dream - of returning to the Dorset landscape of her childhood to open Bitter Orange, a shop celebrating the fruit that first inspired her.

Holly's mother, Ella, has always loved Seville. So why is she reluctant to go back there with Holly to source products for the shop? What is she frightened of - and does it have anything to do with the old Spanish recipe for Seville orange and almond cake that Ella keeps hidden from her family?

In Seville, where she was once forced to make the hardest decision of her life, Ella must finally face up to the past, while Holly meets someone who poses a threat to all her plans. Seville is a city full of sunshine and oranges. But it can also be bittersweet. Will love survive the secrets of the orange grove?

I just don't know...

...why I kept listening, except the parts about Seville were interesting. Otherwise a rather contrived story in lots of ways ( I can't describe without spoilers) and the reader didn't help with a dull voice, with emphasis on all the places I wouldn't have and vice versa...

Unforgettable

Well written with quite a twist. Anyone who's had a holiday romance would love it.

Cosy listening

These books are great escapism, not challenging at all and quite predictable but they conjure up the atmosphere of foreign climes quite successfully.

Really good story

What a great story, made better by the brilliant story telling by Shazia Nicholls. Set in Spain and Dorset so easy to imagine you were inside the story and feeling a part of it. Highly recommended,

Love letter to a city

Generational love stories, embedded in a love letter to a city (and oranges!?). Being a fan of Seville I enjoyed hearing the long descriptions of the city (at least at first). Though I admit I quickly began to fast forward the lengthy city/oranges paragraphs. Brilliant narration!

Not sure

It took a while to get into this book. I suppose I would describe it as a nice light summer holiday read. A bit too sugary and contrived for me but the descriptions of Seville kept me reading on.

More like a history book.....

The narrator was excellent.
Found story difficult too descriptive of Saville and too love orientated.

My friend booked a holiday to Seville after readin

An uplifting, gentle and informative travelling tale about Seville. Thoroughly Invested in the characters lives and grew fond of them.
Delighted to learn about Seville, the people, the history and the food, along with natural ingredients This was the perfect way to be educated about the city, the flamenco traditions and gently listen to an ever deepening plot about old loves and new ones. Wonderful, please buy it . Such a lovely change from fast paced fiction. still fresh and modern. I'm immediatly going onto another book of Rosanna Leys
