Summary

Renovation takes a sexy turn when a cute country girl rocks up with a tool belt and plans that throw the whole gay neighborhood into disarray in this light-hearted lesbian romance.

When handywoman Jorgie's uncle leaves her an old house in Melbourne, it's a dream come true. Sure, 94 Gaylord Street is falling apart, and she has to deal with her uncle Bruce's eccentric friends thanks to his unusual will.

But that's okay. She'll fire up her power tools and turn the dilapidated terrace house into a desirable inner-city pad. Then she'll sell up and head home to the country.

Jorgie hasn't counted on falling for cute neighbor Marta, who's found her heart-home among the tight queer-community of Gaylord Street. Between mugs of too-strong tea and Jorgie's lack of a working shower, the two forge a surprising connection.

But what happens when the renovation's complete? Can Jorgie really just toss aside her tool belt and saunter away?

Contains mature themes.

Enjoyable Aussie lesfic

I usually enjoy Australian lesfic as it has a sense of the unknown and yet a comfortable familiarity about it and a good dose of Aussie humor thrown in. This audiobook is no exception. The story is interesting, the characters engaging and, while there is some doubt about outcome, the uncertainty is not too angsty.

loved this story and narration

Such a great author. I love how Cheyenne Blue writes ordinary flawed but loveable people. You end up rooting for all of them. And top notch narration as always by Cat Gould.

I love Gaylord Street!

I have enjoyed this book very much. I really loved the world created on Gaylord Street. It was well-described and I find myself wanting to be in such a vibrant place, full of people and things going on. The supporting characters on the street of Leo, Elfin and Coral were all very distinct and I feel like I will miss them now the book is over. I could happily read more about life on this street because of them. Their friendships felt realistic and genuine. I found I was comparatively less attached to the two romantic leads, Jorgie and Marta. I didn't feel this way all the way through, but coming out of the book I feel like I will miss the setting and people of the street more than I will the romantic leads. But I still enjoyed the listen and was glad for the way that the two were able to communicate with one another and express their feelings. I also enjoyed the plot like with Cilla and the exploration of needing to move beyond a codependent relationship with one's mother. I enjoyed the details of the refurbishment of no 94 and would definitely still recommend this book as a lovely listen!

Great begining's can start with a change of love.

I read this beautiful story first an was eager to hear Cat Gould give the characters life outside my head. The love between Jorgie and Marta was just so palpable. The way Gaylord street was such a family. So many good growth moments with Leo, Elfin and Cilia. Oh and Coral was just the best. it is a delightful story of love so strong it changes/ makes the world even better!! I will listen to this one often.

Became Boring

This story about a queer neighborhood became very boring and unrealistic for me. I made it to chapter 27 and decided I really wasn’t enjoying the story. The very beginning held too many sexual innuendos between the characters, ‘the romance’ happened almost overnight. The whole story was quick moving, narration was ok, but just didn’t appeal to me. I’m sorry I used a credit for this. My first time with this author.

Gaylord Street

Jordie’s uncle leave her his house when he dies and it’s her chance to put her skills to the test. As a handy woman she has a real challenge. The whole street is a cast of wonderful gay people and they quickly adopt her. Marta her next door neighbor pulls her attention immediately. A chance at proving herself and finding love for two women. Great performance
