A forgotten favourite brought alive!
Excellently read and a delightful plot, I laughed aloud! I had forgotten just how clever Georgette Heyer was in her portrayal of minor characters.

Thoroughly enjoyable
Mispronunciation of ‘ton’ only jarring note. But good story and well read. I enjoyed it.

A weirdly tentative reading
....at least over speech between characters and in fact not a lot of differentiation between them either. Strange, particularly when you think he's an actor and has apparently recorded 54 books. The story holds up as well as always though, so definitely worth a listen

Disjointed narration
Not one of Heyer's best. Narration is stilted although individual dialogue very good. Unsettling though.

Great story, a little let down by the narration
Story was excellent, as expected from Heyer, but the narration wasn't the best. It was hard to tell which character was speaking sometimes, as the narrator didn't give the characters distinct voices.

Superb narration
It is such a relief to be able to listen to a talented narrator who is alive to the humour of Georgette Heyer's novels, and can do justice to regional accents. please can we have more of her novels narrated by James Lailey or/and actors of his calibre?

A brilliant story, reasonably narrated
One of Heyer’s better romances if not the absolute top tier. The narrator does a fair job with only a few odd pronunciations. He doesn’t put much effort into the voices - it’s like listening to someone reading a story rather than performing it but I don’t mind that. Sometimes though it can be hard to tell who is speaking.
Enjoyable listen and I would recommend to any Heyer fan.

Good narration
This story was very well narrated which isn’t always the case with some Heyer stories.

Good on the whole
The narrator didn't do too bad a job differentiating between the characters, but I can't help wishing he wouldn't pronounce "ton" as if it were a weight. A couple of decidedly off bits of French too.
