Summary

An historical romance set in London and the English countryside with remarkable nuance and descriptions about dress, parties, houses, men and women and their dealings with each other, with special insights into marriage. A wonderful ode to our better selves and what we can be if we move beyond the bumps and bruises in life.

Atrocious

I only listened to the first couple of minutes
A total waste of money
Deaver Brown cannot tell a story to save his life, he stutters, stammers & pronounces incorrectly
His accent is totally wrong for regency England
He just reads the book with no attempt to act out the different characters
The twinkling tune in the background totally destroys any concentration on the story
Never again, I have all the Georgette Heyer books in audible & paper back
This recording is an insult

DO NOT BUY!!! Worst narrator and recording I’ve ever heard! Wish I’d started listening to it earlier as not eligible for refund now

Terrible

The narration of this was dreadful, it was so bad I couldn’t even finish it. I feel I have wasted a credit on it

Oh dear!

I couldn't listen to more than five minutes of this book, sadly. The narrator sounds like he is in a large room and hasn't a suitable voice for character reading effectively.
That coupled with the repetitive music in the background which after a few minutes was still highly distracting. I skipped to chapter 20 and the music was still there.
Hence I haven't any idea whether the story was good because I gave up.

The Black Moth narrated by Beaver Brown

What a dreadful monotone voice!!! Also what was the annoying instrument in the background all the way through, I had to exit it halfway through, I have been a georgette Heyer fan for many years and hope never to listen to another ruined interpretation of her books

Truly dreadful reading

I should have read the reviews. My fault. But how could they make this so very badly. Anyone would be better. No really.

appalling naration!

absolutely hideous, I literally could not listen to it. It was not the American voice, which does jar with a quintessentially English story. It was the total lack of expression, inability to phrase properly, poor pronunciation. The couple of sentences I did hear was like listening to an asthmatic 90-year old reading the contents off a cereal box, without his glasses on. I want my money back!!
