Summary

A brand-new Ancient Egyptian novel from the master of adventure fiction and global number 1 bestselling author, Wilbur Smith.

In the heart of Egypt

Under the watchful eye of the gods

A new power is rising

In the city of Lahun, Hui lives an enchanted life. The favoured son of a doting father, and ruler-in-waiting of the great city, his fate is set. But behind the beautiful façades a sinister evil is plotting. Craving power and embittered by jealousy, Hui's stepmother, the great sorceress Isetnofret, and Hui's own brother Qen, orchestrate the downfall of Hui's father, condemning Hui and seizing power in the city.

Cast out and alone, Hui finds himself a captive of a skilled and powerful army of outlaws, the Hyksos. Determined to seek vengeance for the death of his father and rescue his sister, Ipwet, Hui swears his allegiance to these enemies of Egypt. Through them he learns the art of war, learning how to fight and becoming an envied charioteer.

But soon Hui finds himself in an even greater battle - one for the very heart of Egypt itself. As the pieces fall into place and the Gods themselves join the fray, Hui finds himself fighting alongside the Egyptian General Tanus and renowned Mage, Taita. Now Hui must choose his path—will he be a hero in the old world, or a master in a new kingdom?

The New Kingdom is a brand-new Egyptian Series thriller by the master of adventure, Wilbur Smith.

Humanity

Contrary to popular believe, killing never came easy to the ancestors. As in today's life, each person is of his roots, born to be what is meant to be, a grover, farmer, soldier, leader and so forth. Those daring to challenge will prosper, the rest will falter. This book is a tat slow to those who paved the road, non the less a good adventure from another view

fantastic

I liked the music before and after the book would like to see these books turned into film I think they would do well I prefer Mark Meadows narrating he's got one of these voices that you can get into and makes it more realistic he has what I call an easy listening voice

Bit predictable

Not a patch on the original ancient Egypt stories of River God etc. also what was the narrator on? Didn’t enjoy his voice at all.

Not a patch on the original books

I thoroughly enjoyed the original series, but this felt like an unashamed attempt to cash in.
The story is very slow. The main character Hui is not particularly likable and until quite close to the end of the book, I had no interest at all and seeing him succeed or even survive. I can’t believe there are so few reviews for this book and wonder if the good ones are from people who have actually read it for people who have been paid for them.

It was hard work getting to the end of this...

I'm afraid this was not of a similar standard to Wilbur Smith's earlier works. Was it written by an A.I.?
