Summary
DISCOVER THE MOST UNPUTDOWNABLE PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER OF THE YEAR. WINNER OF THE JOFFE BOOKS PRIZE 2023.
Love thy neighbour. Fear thy neighbour.
I thought moving to this quiet cul-de-sac was the fresh start my husband and I needed, escaping the noise of our cramped flat in Hounslow. I left India and all that was familiar for a new life with him in England.
But my husband works all hours, leaving me alone in a house that doesn’t feel like a home.
Our neighbours notice the bruises on my arms. They draw the obvious conclusions.
They seem kind, but they’re hiding something.
I just can’t shake the feeling that someone is always watching me . . . waiting.
My husband’s working late. Again. That’s when I see it.
A face pressed to the glass.
A hand waving.
It couldn’t be. Could it?
This utterly gripping and unputdownable psychological thriller full of shocking twists is perfect for fans of Steena Holmes, Freida McFadden, E.V. Seymour, Dandy Smith, Sonya Bateman or Nicole Trope.

Slow going
Plot could have moved faster but story does keep surprising you. Main characters interesting. Accents done well.

Different accents and showing a glimpse of mix3d British society 😉
It is not very suspenseful, but was a good company while doing other activities. 😉

Different
This book made a refreshing change with lots of twists and turns. I will be looking for more titles by this writer.

Ok if you can get past the accents
If you’re into soap opera and light who dun it’s like Richard Osman’s Thursday Murder Club books you might like this. It was a bit predictable and twee for me but passed an afternoon. If id have paid for it I would have returned it because the exaggerated accents annoyed me as they switched from sounding Liverpudlian to something more like welsh, Russian, Scottish and at one point Lancashire. I don’t really think they were necessarily as there were already two distinct narrator voices

Good narration
Good narration but i found the story to be very slow at times. I struggled to get into it and the ending was only alright.

The ending was not convincing
The story was othervise good, but how vould a pregnant woman who has kicked out her husband, is expecting their first child, and without a job or income, be planning a trip to India, and maybe even to Australia after that? And together with her neighbour and newborn baby. With what money? She is also planning to introduce a rescue dog into their houshold with her elderly neighbour. Oh dear, keeping a dog costs money too, even if you get the animal for free...

Great Plot - Kept Me Guessing.
Loved the story. I kept thinking I'd worked it out then changed my mind, before changing it back again. 😂
