Summary

DISCOVER THE MOST UNPUTDOWNABLE PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER OF THE YEAR. WINNER OF THE JOFFE BOOKS PRIZE 2023.

Love thy neighbour. Fear thy neighbour.

I thought moving to this quiet cul-de-sac was the fresh start my husband and I needed, escaping the noise of our cramped flat in Hounslow. I left India and all that was familiar for a new life with him in England.

But my husband works all hours, leaving me alone in a house that doesn’t feel like a home.

Our neighbours notice the bruises on my arms. They draw the obvious conclusions.

They seem kind, but they’re hiding something.

I just can’t shake the feeling that someone is always watching me . . . waiting.

My husband’s working late. Again. That’s when I see it.

A face pressed to the glass.

A hand waving.

It couldn’t be. Could it?

This utterly gripping and unputdownable psychological thriller full of shocking twists is perfect for fans of Steena Holmes, Freida McFadden, E.V. Seymour, Dandy Smith, Sonya Bateman or Nicole Trope.

Really good

Considering this was free I really enjoyed it. An easy listen, good storyline, well written characters.

Ok if you can get past the accents

If you’re into soap opera and light who dun it’s like Richard Osman’s Thursday Murder Club books you might like this. It was a bit predictable and twee for me but passed an afternoon. If id have paid for it I would have returned it because the exaggerated accents annoyed me as they switched from sounding Liverpudlian to something more like welsh, Russian, Scottish and at one point Lancashire. I don’t really think they were necessarily as there were already two distinct narrator voices

Different

This book made a refreshing change with lots of twists and turns. I will be looking for more titles by this writer.

Great performance by all 3 narrators, storyline had too many holes for me though

Stellar narration but the story was pretty weak in places. I did listen to the end though!

Cosy with dark shadows!

An engaging book. Lovely descriptive wording as well as a plot that pulls you in with a few gentle twists & realistic characters. I listened to it whenever I had any spare time - finished it within a couple of days. I would recommend it to others.

The simply awful Liverpool accent

Plodding and over descriptive. Wordy, but okay as a storyline. Just terrible stereotypes for characterisation. The narrator is simply dreadful.

Absolutely loved this book!

It was a great listen, got me gripped right from the beginning till the end. I loved how Sapna shared those beautiful childhood memories that she had with her family in her home country in India. Loved the happy ending too.
