Children's book

The blurb or details don't indicate that this is really a young teen book.
I erroneously bought it thinking it was intended for an adult reader and shall be returning it..
The narrator, too I think is very young as her pronunciation, diction and reading was spirited but amateurish.
I am sure young listeners would enjoy this.

My new favourite book

Review written by my daughter; I am 10 and I listened to this and it is so amazing. I love the characters, it feels like they are my new friends. I love the way it’s set in the past and all the clothes sound so glamorous! The author, Katherine Woodfine, should be crowned best author ever! I can’t wait to read (or listen to) the next one in the series, The jewelled moth.

Disappointing.

I'm sorry to say this was disappointing. The story was very predictable and the whole plot seemed - weirdly - both far-fetched and not mysterious/thrilling enough. All the twists and turns were obvious. The characters felt flat. Most disappointingly, however, the London of 1909 did not come alive out of the pages of this book. I read books set in London specifically to relish the city's atmosphere in different periods (since, sadly, I can't time-travel), and this book felt disappointingly bland and non-specific.

Very intriguing

I liked it because I was always exited for the next part or left on a cliff hanger what I would be exited for when I go to bed

Cute, Clean, Mystery for Young Teens

Pros:

-the narrator was excellent
-I found the whole book charming
-I would've LOVED this series when I was younger. It was very well written, with a 10, 14, and 16 year olds as the heroes.
-I liked that it was clean (no sex, swearing, etc.) while at the same time you knew life was tough back then and there is a homeless teen hiding from a gang.

I am 28 and really enjoyed this. I think this would be a fun one to read as a family, or as an early teen.

Fantastic

This is simply fantastic. A great book as a base, paired with an excellent performance by Jessica Preddy, makes this audiobook engaging and entertaining. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a good mystery.
