Summary

The superb new novel from the best-selling author of Half A World Away and All the Lonely People.

Inspired by a box of mementos found abandoned in a skip following a house clearance, The Museum of Ordinary People is a poignant, thought-provoking but ultimately uplifting story of memory and love, grief, loss and the things we leave behind. It is another brilliant novel from an author who seems to have the absolute knack of writing topical, engaging, heartwarming stories which really connect with listeners.

A little predictable but lovely

Very lovely characters, I wish we'd heard more about the tales of the items and tracking down the owners and the story behind. Otherwise an easy listen and good narration.

A modern feel good story.

Loved this story! Great reader, I really felt like she told her own story. A modern fairytale of sorts. Engaging and touching. This is my first Mike Gayle book and I want more!

Heartwarmingly Beautiful Book

This audiobook had been sitting in my library for a while and I hadn’t gotten round to listening to it until now. It’s a unique and gorgeous book that describes dealing with grief and the loss of a loved one so beautifully and so realistically. Totally recommend!

Unusual narration

It was a nice little story, although the use of words was very formal in parts and the narration was quite stilted. Despite that I enjoyed listening to this book and have enjoyed Mike Gayle’s other books.

Thought Provoking

As I was listening to this book I realised that it can be taken as a nice story or something far deeper.
I'm on the deeper level, I found it illuminating on some of the things I do and why I get upset that others are more frivolous with items.
That willingly make sense if you read/listen to the book which I recommend you doing.
