Summary
The Ming dynasty becomes a battleground for the Brotherhood of Assassins and the Order of the Templars in this blockbuster action novel from a previously unexplored part of the beloved Assassin's Creed universe.
China, 16th century. The Assassins are gone. Zhang Yong, the relentless leader of the Eight Tigers, took advantage of the emperor's death to eliminate all his opponents, and now the Templars hold all the power. Shao Jun, the last representative of her clan, barely escapes death and has no choice but to flee her homeland. Vowing to avenge her former brothers in arms, she travels to Europe to train with the legendary Ezio Auditore. When she returns to the Middle Kingdom, her saber and her determination alone will not be enough to eliminate Zhang Yong: She will have to surround herself with allies and walk in the shadows to defeat the Eight Tigers.

So much detail it gets boring
Well read but way to much detail.
Every time there is a fight your being told “he hit him with blar blar blar move from the blar blar blar technique in blar blar time and was perfected by blar blar snore zzzzzzzz at one point something that would only have taken 2 minutes for real was nearly an hour long. Felt truly painfull at times.

hits its stride too late
massive amount of info included (names, settings and side info), which makes it hard to get onto the story. I enjoyed the later chapters though. I also did not like the muttery delivery of older characters . Taken together it was OK.

Just awful
Loved the previous two Assassin’s Creed audiobooks that I listened to. Absolutely hated this one. It’s really boring. I literally had no idea what was going on. The names of the characters are too hard to remember being Japanese - they all sound similar to me! The many action scenes are so dull that they fail to provide visual imagery when listening to the descriptions. When someone gets hit by a sword…there’s no build up and description to what’s about to happen. The sword is just described as being planted in someone’s body somewhere. Boring.
