Very dense, but lacking focus.

There's a *tremendous* amount of material in here about various factors to consider when buying equities. Almost every paragraph raises some new point to consider, and it's all fascinating in it's own way, but it leaves you (or at least me) feeling more bewildered than informed.

The primary reference points are the investing principles of Ben Graham, Warren Buffett and Joel Greenblatt: and the book assumes you already have quite a bit of established knowledge and vocabulary to work with. I found it quite refreshing to read a book that doesn't treat you as a rank beginner and recite the same cliches and anecodtes you've heard a dozen times before, but I would recommend making yourself familiar with the above referenced authors first.

I tend to be of the KISS school, and this book makes an undeniably complex subject, fantastically complex. There's no unifying, easily-summed up set of principles to guide when you actually sit down and try to decide what to buy. I've no doubt many finance nerds (of whom I am one) will enjoy the endless reams of data, but those looking for a concise and practical guide on how to buy stocks, might want to look elsewhere.

Narrator is fine.

Valuable Information

Valuable information for any investor but great for 'value investing.' A wholistic view for value investment. Great reader as well.

Excellent text on Value Investing

It lives up to its promise of offering you, "the proven framework for finding the best value investments." It morphs you into the role of a capital allocator. It covers the whole gamut of value investing arena: starting from Ben Graham's Deep Value via Greenblatt's Magic Formula, Small stocks, Special Situations to International Value Investments going beyond your national frontiers it covers everything. The Key Takeaways at the end of every chapter helps you the remember the key points easily.

This text is just the beginning of your value investing journey which continues through the author, John Mihaljevic's eponymous website manualofIdeas.com where you get so much more. While I subscribe to his website's paid offerings I carry no business brief from him. IMHO, if you are indeed serious about investing in stock market, you would do well to read and/or listen to the text and use the resources at his website.

This text is just too good, I have the hard copy, the Kindle edition and also this Audible version
The beauty of the Audible version is it's narration, Mark Moseley did an excellent job.

I'm going to listen to it again--may buy hard copy

Would you consider the audio edition of The Manual of Ideas to be better than the print version?

It is a very technical and sophisticated book. I was amazed how well it was read to me. I may buy the print version to go back and find some fascinating details that went by fairly fast, but I'm glad I listened first.
I felt like I've attended a semester's course in value investing at a top university. I feel so much wiser. Best investing book I've run across.

The best how-to book in value investing.

No more book you need if you want to learn how to invest like well-known value investors. This book not only covers the investment thesis but also deals with how to implement such strategy. I strongly recommend it.

I liked how this book has a value investing focus, it provided a good experience.

Surprisingly Excellent Value Investing Read

I hadn't really heard of this book, and didn't know what to expect. However, after reading, I'd say it's pretty close to The Intelligent Investor in regards to education on value investing. A truly great book! Highly recommended.

My favorite value investing book

So helpful in steering the younger generation value investors to best methods. This book is under valued. (J)ames and (j) oan Moriarty on you tube is important.

great book

it would be better to read it than listen to it because of the amount of information. however, the reader does about as good of a job you can do with the content and keep your attention
