About this listen
A curious priest uncovers a mystifying secret - one that leads to a long-buried relic some will do anything to possess. Can he outwit adversaries who will stop at nothing to keep him from revealing an object that challenges history as we know it?
Father Michael Dominic discovers a strangely constructed 13th-century puzzle hidden deep within the Vatican Secret Archives. With the help of his brilliant colleague, investigative journalist Hana Sinclair, solving the puzzle exposes a cleverly concealed map that marks the hiding place of a sacred artifact - one with shocking implications.
From Rome to France and Switzerland, his search for the object finds Dominic pitted against deadly agents and a ruthless Russian oligarch. Desperate, he must choose between trusting an unlikely collection of possible allies - or certain death. As his enemies close in, can he survive and bring this staggering new secret to light, or will his pursuers bury it beside him in the cold, dark earth of a long-forgotten cave?
Sure to please fans of the best-selling novel The Magdalene Deception, this second entry in The Magdalene Chronicles series is impossible to stop listening to. Packed with historical events and nonstop action, you will be listening to it late into the night.

A very enjoyable curate’s egg!
I am fascinated by the Magdalen controversy so can’t resist these books. They also romp along with lots of action and interesting characters. However, I wish the writer would lean a little more towards showing rather than telling and leave out some of his rather gauche adverbs and let some well chosen verbs do the work of revealing motivation and thought. I appreciate the depth of technical and historic research behind the books, but deep research should reveal itself subtly with a few well chosen details. We did not need an entire chapter on the workings of a DNA lab, nor repeated lessons in the history of the Cathars and Templars. The text becomes clunky far too often. My final criticism is that in order to move the plot forward, the characters are often made to behave with a level of naivety hard to credit. They might possibly make the mistake of discussing highly secret topics in a public place where they can conveniently be overheard by the baddies, but not over and over again! However, I will be reading the next book in the series, so clearly, these criticisms are not completely spoiling my enjoyment of a good yarn.

Another exciting adventure for Father Michael!
Gary Mcavoy has produced a sequel to The Magdalene Deception which is actually even more exciting than the original. I can't wait to listen to The Magdalene Veil which is the next book in the series, providing my blood pressure can stand the pace!

Much better than the first book in the series
I rated the first book in the Magdalene Chronicles as a slow burner and thought this would be the last one in the series I would listen to. I was very wrong and now am really looking forward to the next book in the series coming out!!
