About this listen
In the colonial cities and towns of Fatrasta, peace has never been easy. Immigrants fight amongst themselves or turn on the native population, while the governing power of the Kez Army steps in only to enforce the will of apathetic local governors assigned by a distant crown.
Young war hero Ben Styke commands a colonial garrison in a sleepy frontier suburb. When the governor's cruel brother stops for the night, rising continental tensions force Styke to protect the people of his town in a brutal escalation that threatens to destroy everything and everyone he has fought for.
Occurs 12 years before the events in Sins of Empire.

Great story but the narration is so bad
Narration performance awful in comparison to Powder Mage Trilogies, had to listen at 1.5x speed

Great story. Bad narration.
McLellan delivers another great story. It's too bad that the narrator does a not so good job. The way she reads and does voices is very exhaustive and most men sound the same and always angry and grumpy. Women don't sound that a bad but there is room for improvement.

Good story, Dodgy narration.
Enjoyed this and look forward to listening to more of Brian McClellan's work. Was less impressed by narrator. I think who ever picked this particular one made a poor choice.
