Epic
The Last of the Mohicans is an insightful, historico-political and ethnographic drama of North America in the late 1700’s; deeply poignant and packed w action, suspense and emotion.
There is love and loyalty on a panorama of a cruel manipulative struggle for colonial power and the destruction of the native Indians.
The style is dated, but well constructed and the plot incredibly moving, with awesome descriptions of the land and characters, both heroes and villains that are complex, have depth and with whom we can empathise.
Not a Great American novel ?
