"The silence settled on me."

A short (30+ minutes) and predictable story recounted by a photographer assignments to take promotional photos of a large Dorsetshire Georgian house about to be placed on the market after it's very elderly female owner had been pronounced dead. Well written and a little creepy, it was a quick read to fill an odd half an hour but nothing special. The narrator, James Warrior, was competent but was unable to add anything to the tale.

The last assignment review

A short little horror story but very enjoyable and the narrator was excellent telling the story.

Enjoyable but...

I enjoyed the story, but disliked the narrator. I found his performance quite flat, and added nothing to the sense of malice and unease that should have been portrayed.

godd story bad narrator

The story was good and would have been so much better had the narrator not sounded like he was giving a Hop on Hop off Bus tour of a mundane town.

Spooky story

Good little spooky story to fill a half an hour gap.
The narration could have been better but was adequate. Didn’t really add or take anything away from the story.
All in all this authors tales are quite captivating.

Entertaining

Not a bad little story a photographer has to photograph a Gothic-style mansion where funny goings-on happened while the owner was alive, a son that was to be married and disappeared where did he go? When developing his photos he is sure he sees a ghost of the once owner.
The narration was lovely and clear and very short just right when you have a spare 30 minutes.
Not at all frightening but interesting.

Enjoyable story bad narration.

Enjoyed this Ghost story but the narration by James Warrior was dull and he had no enthusiasm while reading.

Decent, if somewhat predictable.

A short, 30 minute, jaunt through a decent but somewhat predictable tale. The narrator is competent, however adds very little to this story. There is value here for people who engage in this particular genre, like me, but ultimately there are much better stories told elsewhere. As an Audible Plus title, I do think it's worth the 30 minute investment even if you do come away with very little to shoe for it.

Fine. Decent enough but needed more... something.
I found the narrator fine, although I had it sped up.
