Summary
The office of the public defender is not known as a training ground for bright young litigators. Clay Carter has been there too long and, like most of his colleagues, dreams of a better job in a real firm. When he reluctantly takes the case of a young man charged with a random street killing, he assumes it is just another of the many senseless murders that hit D.C. every week.
As he digs into the background of his client, Clay stumbles on a conspiracy too horrible to believe. He suddenly finds himself in the middle of a complex case against one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, looking at the kind of enormous settlement that would totally change his life—that would make him, almost overnight, the legal profession’s newest king of torts…

My favourite Grisham book just got better
King of Torts has always been my favourite JG book. Partly due to the fact is not one of the most popular books and wasn't run through the movie mill, partly due to the structure of the tale as it has a clearly defined "beginning, middle and end" and partly because it shows not all his books have the typical Hollywood-esque happy ever after endings. There's a definite current running through the book about the morality of both tort campaigns and greed. The audiobook is brilliantly read by Michael Beck who is by far the best of the JG readers in my opinion.

Great book from Mr Grisham
A cautionary tale of when Class Action Lawyers get too rich too quickly. Nicely put together as a linear yarn of greed and the law.

Not inspiring story
The story had masses of potential, but turned out to be a very predictable end, with no real twists or turns. The outcome was known from the very beginning

king of torts
john Grisham conquers once more had you wanting more great lesson for everyone who wishes to be greedy. Though sad at the end it took that journey for both parties to learn that money is NOT the most important thing in life. once again thank you Mr Grisham- and a big thank you to Audible.

Predicable.
the narrator Michael Beck is brilliant but the story was mediocre in comparison to the writers usual captivating and gasp out loud, works of art.

Good, except for the ending
Usual Grisham, so a good book overall. Narration was okay too, but for the narrator not knowing what a Georgian accent sounds like. I do however have a problem with the ending. It sounded to me like the most tacked on, it'll-do ending I've ever heard. It was like a sum up and conclusion to the story in 1 short paragraph, accompanied by some weird music that hadn't been in the rest of the book. Even the narration sounded odd. Apart from that, it was okay

superb!
My third listen through - still a top listen! A tale of greed as well as an education, without sentimentality. Highly recommend. Also recommend Street Lawyer by the same author
