Gripping second outing!
Revisiting Wise and his team again for a fast paced story that flew by for all the right reasons. The story was gripping and the narration added a whole extra dimension to what was already a cracking read.
The characters are further fleshed out as the world building continues and the plot was great! I whole heartedly recommend this gritty outing and finished it in a couple of days. Definitely a page turner!
Looking forward to the next chapter!

Fantastic new Detective series
I’ve been looking for a great new detective series and found it.
The first 2 books have been brilliant, great writing, believable and engaging characters and fast paced story lines which I didn’t want to end and which leave you wanting more. Also wonderfully narrated.

Excellent Book
This is Book 2 in the DI Simon Wise series and it is excellent. I highly recommend this book and encourage you to read/listen to Book 1 so you do not miss out on any of the plots - I won’t add any further information here as I do not wish to spoil it for anyone. There is also a novella that is a prequel & worth listening to.
Narration is by the excellent Colin Mace who brings it to life and manages to make the listener feel the anxiety of the characters especially in faster paced scenes in the book.
Looking forward to Book 3. Happy listening.

Colin Mace saved the day - too quickly solved.
It began very interestingly and a bit off the beaten track, had me intrigued as to where it was going and I was hopeful of something different for a change. However, not enough time or effort was put into keeping the intial thread going and after the first murder it didn't take very long for the whole thing to be worked out and all the pieces to slot perfectly into place, a quick conclusion reached, killer caught and that was that. Another couple of hours of the police being baffled and chasing dead ends and having to do some actual police work would have added to the intrigue. That said, the book was well written, albeit with the usual cliches, coincidences and predictable scenes here and there. Hoping the tease at the end is a hint at book 3 (if there is to be one) also hoping there are to be a few more twists and turns in reaching a not so swift conclusion.
Colin Mace's masterful narration saved the day.
