About this listen

When 17-year-old Maddy Pruitt vanishes from her sleepy town, word on the street is that she ran away. The daughter of an abusive alcoholic with a quick temper, she had every reason to leave in search of something better, and everyone who knew Maddy knew the type of company she kept wasn't always ideal.

But when a second 17-year-old girl from a local, affluent family turns up missing shortly after Maddy's disappearance, the circumstances become suspicious. Even though the girls are perfect strangers from opposite sides of town, attended separate schools, and traveled in different social circles, it turns out they have more in common than anyone could have imagined.

With the clock ticking, those closest to the girls lead a frantic search, uncovering secrets, lies, and a web of deceit that might have the girls paying an ultimate price...if they don't find them in time.

Contains mature themes.

I loved the premise, but the first missing girl (Maddie) barely features, while the second, richer girl is not only centre stage for the bulk of the book, but her narrator is insufferable. Honestly if it weren't for the fact that there were interludes with other narrators, I couldn't have finished it. Also, considering the context (which isn't apparent from the description) what actually occurs seems quite unrealistic (and by that I mean, absolutely nowhere near as bad as it would have been if these scenarios were real).

While, yes, the ending tied up all the loose ends, it also just added so many unnecessary bits that I guess were meant to be plot twists but just felt really silly. Like, REALLY silly. Many eye rolls. This book is like if you hear a really loud bang and turn round to see it's a defective sparkler.

Terrible ending, one awful narrator

This book sounded really good. I felt like it started to get a little bit rushed about half way through which kind of spoiled it a wee bit.

This was a good story, which I enjoyed listening to. Like other people have commented on it seem to be quite a sudden and rushed ending. Narrators were good too.

Good story

Such a strange writing style… too many characters, plot is complicated with the action jumping from present to past to other characters.

Definitely would not listen to other books from this writer. Narrators could have been a little better: mainly the female ones. So glad the book was free…

Not even sure how to describe this…

Good pace with lots of twists, all three narrators were really good and kept these going all the way to the unexpected end, Defiantly worth a free download.

A great find in the plus catalogue.

It started ok, interesting plot, but towards the end so much is thrown together that it was a very, very disappointing finish. the writer aimed at too many plots and twists and ruined completely ruined the book in my opinion.

Meh
