Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham grew up tough, a grim future ahead of him offering little respite from the hostile streets he walked. Leaving school at thirteen, he ran with gangs in Walsall – and almost died in a knife fight. At sixteen, Billy discovered the British armed forces. It would be the making of him.
Billingham would succeed in passing the Parachute Regiment’s arduous ‘P Company’ selection and training, going on to serve with 3 PARA. He then took on an even bigger challenge: selection for the SAS – the elite special forces unit known for excellence in operating under extreme conditions. Billy excelled in this field, undertaking numerous classified and life-threatening missions. After leaving the army, Billy served as bodyguard to Hollywood stars, including Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

Not what I was expecting
This isn't a Rambo do or die type affair, it is more about some interesting story's of life after the military. The book links how being in the military gives you skills and experience which can be used outside to help others.

Great read
Fantastic book. What a bloke, these men are superhuman! Very enjoyable read I’ve read all the books from the SAS tv shows SF guys and this one is right up there. Highly recommend

Interesting and colourful military career
Excellent story of coming from nowhere to somewhere and succeeding 'the hard way'.
Would have preferred the author to narrate, but not the end of the world.

Exceptional
Loved every second of it, listened whilst cracking on with some gardening, gonna train to join the Royal engineers and follow in my father's footsteps after he left the regiment

Very motivational book!
Thank you very much Mr Billingham, very thoughtful, honest and motivational book, esp as have been struggling personally.
