Will their prayers be answered at the most wonderful time of the year?

As Christmas approaches, Alice, Edith and Marg continue to face hardships growing up on one of the poorest streets in Blackpool. Penniless, their friendship has helped them survive this far, but it'll take more than that to see them through the dark days that lie ahead....

Newly married Alice receives shocking news about her pregnancy that threatens the future she's always dreamed of. Marg is struggling to care for her ailing mother and ensure her little sister receives the education she deserves. Edith is grieving the loss of her family while preparing to marry her sweetheart.

The Halfpenny Girls once again are faced with a struggle, but with the festive season upon them, will family, friendship and Christmas spirit see them through?

The half penny girls at Christmas

This story was absolutely ruined by the narrator. There was no way I could listen to the end. Loved the first book. The narrator knew how to bring the characters to life. Please only use Anne Dover.

Book 2

Enjoyed book 2 of the series but preferred the voice of the previous book. Still enjoyed listening though.

Okay, but disliked the change in narrator

Changing the narrator for the second book in a series is a mistake, in my opinion, unless the first one is bad and this certainly doesn't apply to Anne Dover! We get used to the characters sounding a certain way, and then they sound completely different with a new narrator. I couldn't get used to that and it detracted from my enjoyment of the book. I persevered in the knowledge that the third book in the series is narrated by Anne Dover again.

Lancashire at its finest !

I love the story. I love the way it's written and the true accents of the narrator. Although I'm from down south ,I wish I had lived there. Keep them alive Maggie Mason.
