Summary

Multiple murders. Multiple suspects. No proof.

Rebekah and Mark Walker find themselves in every parent’s worst nightmare when their dazzling, talented daughter Kezia vanishes after a night out. Soon, they are propelled into the vortex of a fraught missing person inquiry.

In a family torn apart by the disappearance of an apparently captivating teenager, we discover a tangled web of intrigue: mutual suspicion, sibling struggles, and the vain attempt of Kezia's parents to maintain a normal life in the face of almost unendurable pressures.

As the days progress, the mystery deepens. Strange and terrifying clues come to light, raising even more questions, while long-buried secrets of Kezia's friends, family, and acquaintances - including a best-selling author - are uncovered, with devastating consequences.

But Kezia’s disappearance is only the first in a series of apparently unconnected crimes. Detective Inspector Barbara Forster, heading the enquiry, must discover the pattern and reveal the chilling truth, aided by an investigative journalist Alice Myers, whose own life is put at risk. But haunted by secrets of her own and an unshakable belief that she knows the identity of the prime suspect - an obsession that threatens to end her career - Barbara faces a frantic race against time, following a treacherous path that leads all the way to a dark and explosive climax.

A gripping crime thriller with shocking twists you won't see coming that ultimately forces you to question everything in this coldly harrowing exposé of the depths of human nature. Revenge and unspeakable crimes converge on a small Peak District village in The Girl in the Woods

Next in the popular, gritty Alice Myers psychological crime thriller series and the best yet!

Irritating narration

awful narration. Gave up on this book because the singsong staccato delivery was so distracting.
