Summary
An extraordinary true story of resilience, courage, hope and finding lightness after the heaviest of landings.
What if we could figure out a way to see beauty in every part of living—the world, its people and its lessons? To still be able to feel pain and sadness, but see it all as part of this wild ride we call life? We often tell ourselves we'll be grateful when we have that job, or get that car, or that outfit. But what if we could just change our mindsets to one of wonder, of appreciation, of awe in simply being?
For years, Emma Carey was a regular young adult who would wake up and go about their day on autopilot, someone who would look at a sunset and feel unaffected, someone who was living, but not really alive. That is, until something happened that enabled her to really see life for the gift it is. Emma was in a skydiving accident that made her a paraplegic. This book is not just about Emma's fall from the sky and how she learned to walk without ever regaining feeling in her legs but also about the beliefs and ideas that helped her survive. These are the beliefs and ideas that make her the happiest she's ever been.
While Emma did eventually learn how to walk again, her changed mindset is the thing she continues to be proudest of, and most grateful for. Emma's story is one that will capture your heart and heal your mind, as she guides us through what she has learned along the way. With a maturity and evenness beyond her years, as well as a down-to-earth approach to hope and possibility, Emma shows us how to live in the world when what we expected doesn't fit our reality. She shows us how to really look, and see beauty where it is.

Life altering
This book came to me at the perfect timing.
I’ve followed Emma for many years, but this gave a whole new insight into her journey. What I love is how much every word resonates with me, as a fellow human, going through challenges and the ups and downs of life. She writes and narrates so genuinely and eloquently, in a way that speaks to your heart- and makes you want to make a change and look at life as beautiful, because that is exactly what it is.
I will undoubtedly be sharing with my loved ones, and look forward to reading/listening again.
Highly recommend for anyone who is human.
Thank you, Emma.

Best book i’ve reas this year and one i already know i’ll come back to regularly.
Emma tells her story so eloquently and raw, it’s a thing of beauty. She’s not afraid to delve deep and share the most difficult parts of her journey. She tells us she doesn’t like the word inspiring, but man she is. You’ve given me strength and a positive outlook on life and can’t thank you enough. ❤️

Transformative
There are so many take a way moments from this book, whether you have a disability or know someone who does or are simply looking for a different perspective, maybe even just an incredible story, this book has it all. Emma doesn’t seem to hide everything and everything she says and explains has resonated with me in one way or another, a must listen for anyone who feels they are just drifting through life.

If you can, you must.
I've been 'following' Emma Carey for a while on Instagram. Her book is hard to get hold of now or is quite expensive, but anyway I thought it would be nice to hear her reading it so I couldn't wait to start this. Quite simply as soon as I finished listening to it I started it over again from the beginning. I've just finished listening to it for the second time and already I miss listening to it and want to listen to it for a third time. She is SO inspiring, and so articulate (no matter what she seems to think!) Her humanity and 'human-ness' comes through right from the beginning. She talks plainly and honestly, and whilst coming across young and 'bubbly', time after time her thoughts and comments are really insightful and thought provoking. She talks about her experience but she also really thinks about it, and I found myself in tears multiple times simply being so moved. Thinking of listening to this? If you can, you must.
