Summary

Foxxxy Rule #2: Don’t mix business with pleasure Life has not been kind to Adrian Vasquez. He spends his days hiding the truth of his sexuality from his homophobic brother, sticking to every rule of his probation so he isn’t sent back to jail, and keeping out of the crosshairs of Los Hermanos del Diablo—Boston’s most notorious Mexican gang, of which his brother is a prominent member—all in the name of survival.

Thankfully, he has his nights working at The Foxxxy Gentlemen’s Club as an escort and exotic dancer to keep him sane. It may not be his dream job, but under the neon glow of the Foxxxy stage, Adrian can pretend to be someone else, even if it’s only for a little while.

Life has not been easy for Taylor Greer. Born queer and intersex to a Southern Baptist preacher, they left home at fifteen to escape conversation therapy masquerading as a “Christian summer camp.” After surviving four years on the unforgiving streets of Boston, they struggle to get their life back on track for a chance at a better future. Working two jobs to stay afloat and studying every spare minute to pass their GED exam, Taylor has little time for a social life, let alone a love life. But who needs romance when living is this complicated?

When Taylor and Adrian’s paths meet with a literal crash, a bruised plantain is the catalyst for a connection they’re both starving for. Dating a coworker never ends well, but some forces cannot be fought, and Adrian and Taylor can only ignore the magnetic pull between them for so long before physics wins.

Adrian knows better than to mix business with pleasure. Taylor knows better than to get involved with a colleague. But the heart wants what the heart wants, and some rules are made to be broken.

*Trigger Warning: Racist and homophobic language/slurs, mild gang-related violence, scenarios and discussions about eating disorders, mentions of gender dysphoria, one non-violent but bigoted/racist exchange with the police.

MM Foxxxy Gentleman's Club

Adrian (Angel) is gay but cannot come out to his family, and Taylor, who was born Intersex and their parents chose to present him as a boy, both work at Foxxys. Although different, there is a small attraction that brings them together. I love the found family aspect of this book and the backstories of all the characters.

You don't need to, but it may help to read/listen to the previous two books. Both excellent.

I loved how this story developed, and the characters were well-written. All was made better by excellent narration from a new to me narrator, Eddie Herrera; however, like usual, I did speed it up to 1.20 on audible.

Ohh ... the banter, delicious

This book tells us the story of Christian and Gordon, enemies-to-lovers, with a lot of banter, fights, and arguments, making everything much more fun and interesting. I enjoyed how the author portrayed the characters: rude, vulnerable and flawed.

The narrator did a good job interpreting the emotions of the characters.

Wonderful Narration

Eddie Herrera is a new-to-me narrator and I loved his narration. He seemed to flow effortlessly from one accent to the next. The story itself I wasn't quite so keen on. It started off well but weirdly (for me anyway!) the narration was better than the story itself!

Emotional coworker romance, fantastic narration

Angel is a great follow up to book one in the Foxxxy series. This time it sees co-workers Angel and Taylor growing closer and forming a tentative friendship before taking a chance on more.
Both men have really quite painful pasts, for vastly different reasons, and find that they have something of a kinship in struggling to move forward from that but also having come so far. There is a definite rollercoaster ride of emotions for them between the highs that they have together and the lows that they experience individually. Angel is currently on probation after serving time for dealing and living with his brother who is still in the gang but Angel is living in the straight and narrow, as much as you can when dancing in a gentleman's club and an escort. Taylor ran away from home at fifteen when his baptist preacher daddy wanted to send him to conversion camp. That, along with several years living on the street and some health stuff has led to him being slow to trust those around him and not having any close relationships. They are both very strong characters and well written, my heart going out to both of them. I especially enjoyed when the whole Foxxxy crew band together to support them, showing how it's not just blood that makes a family.
A slightly darker story than Chrissy's but equally as worth reading. I loved both the characters and the plot and am looking forward to who comes next in the series as there are several possibilities.

Eddie Herrera is a wonderful narrator throughout this book. I really felt the emotional content from the characters and enjoyed the portrayal of them and the side characters. I look forward to hearing more from him and this series. This is a different narrator from book one.

They just fit

I fell in love with this series with Chrissy in the first book. I thought it would take a lot to add to this series. Angel is a great addition to the series. Both Taylor and Adrian’s characters have past and present issues that take up their lives. Angel is doing the best to improve, studying to take the GED and dealing with day-to-day survival. Angel has to hid who he really is. Having a prison history and being on probation makes him watch his back constantly. Since they are co-worker’s attraction is questionable. Yet they end up starting at being BFF’s and the attraction pushes them into more. How Taylor can be so mature dealing with so much through childhood and currently, made me totally amazed. Angel has had a different situation. He has been in a gang, sent to prison and is hiding being gay. He made me want to give him so much credit for trying to do what’s right. Angel’s biggest problem is knowing when his brother finds out he will lose his relationship with his brother. I feel this author did a great job of dealing with all the situations and problems of these characters. I really liked the choice family things that occurred. I can’t wait to see what the author will come up with next for this series.
Eddie Herrera’s narration really brought this story to life.

Wonderful story

This was really wonderful. I loved both Angel and Taylor. They were realistic and relatable and I had a great time following their story to happily ever after. They were so good together! I also really appreciated the demisexual representation, it was amazing. The found family theme in the series is the best. And I hope we'll get more stories with this group of characters. The narrator did a fantastic job bringing the story and the characters to life. I highly recommend this audiobook.

fantastic

Nikole Knight is well on their way to becoming one of my favourite authors, and this is a great addition to their catalogue that I enjoyed very much. It's got a very weird vibe to it, both gritty and not. Both Taylor and Adrian are in less than ideal situations, but their actual romance is the cutest and loveliest thing. Like jump up and down squealing cute. Just so adorable.

This is the first time I've read a romance with an intersex person, and I commend the author for the sensitive and respectful treatment of this subject. Taylor was an amazing person and I loved how they looked after Adrian, and I also very much enjoyed the wonderful accent from Eddie Herrera. Adrian was no less wonderful and I loved how protective and supportive he was of Taylor. The dynamic and intimacy between them was incredible and I genuinely teared up a few times. Nikole can write sex scenes that are incredibly emotional and intimate as well as being spicy, and that is just catnip to me.

Would absolutely recommend to anyone. Check the content warnings, because there's some heavy topics in this, but they're mostly treated with a light touch that makes them more manageable. It's a beautiful romance that still feels authentic and realistic, and I really hope Nikole returns to the Foxxxy Club soon.

Wonderful story - fantastic narration

The story from the "Foxxxy Gentlemen's Club" continues. This time it's about Adrian, called Angel and Taylor and their story is told realistically. Adrian has a difficult past and he is determined to put it behind him and make a fresh start, which is not always easy. Taylor is also fighting for a better future and is very determined. They both know each other from Foxxxy's and do things together outside of work. I loved how they complement each other and are there for each other. And since family ties are sometimes a really difficult topic, they are both happy about their chosen family.
The story has a good mix of emotion, romance and drama and I loved the way Nikole portrayed Taylor's story.

The narrator Eddie Herrera was new to me. I enjoyed his voice and he did a fantastic job bringing the story and characters to life.

An adorably sweet romance

I absolutely adored Adrian and Taylor's romance. I've always been a big fan of stories that focus on the emotional connection between characters, and that's exactly what I got from these two. Despite his muscle-y build, Adrian was such a softie at heart, and I was swooning left and right from seeing how much he cared about Taylor. I found it a little harder to get inside Taylor's head, but once they started opening up to Adrian, I realized how truly wonderful they were as a person. Both Adrian and Taylor had been through some seriously tough years, and in some ways I think their mutual understanding of how crappy life can be is what made it easier for them to be vulnerable with each other. Their friendship was so tentative at first that I didn't know if it would ever turn into something more, but little by little these two developed feelings they couldn't ignore. I thought my heart was going to burst with happiness when Adrian and Taylor agreed to give dating a shot, and their sweet make-out sessions were more proof of how strong their connection was. Intimacy was sometimes difficult for Taylor, with their body dysmorphia and insecurities about what they desired from a partner, but I didn't need wild nights of passion to feel how deep the love between Taylor and Adrian was. The whole time Adrian and Taylor were getting closer, Adrian was dealing with some seriously scary gang activity, and it was a relief to see that situation resolve itself before the end of the book. All in all, I thought the pacing of the romance was spot-on, the overall storyline was captivating, and the main characters were wonderful and easy to love.

More Foxxxy Greatness! Wonderful Story & Narration

It is great to be back in Nikole Knight’s “Foxxxy Gentlemen’s Club” world again for another fantastic novel, one that not only grabbed my attention the entire time, but tugged on my heartstrings too. This second book is Adrian Vasquez and Taylor Greer’s story, each carry their own baggage and have their share of struggles in life. Adrian is trying to get away from his past, make something of himself, but it is an uphill battle. Taylor Greer is doing the same, working two jobs and studying for his GED with a goal of attending college in his future. The two work at Foxxxy’s, but they wind up bumping into each other outside of work and they learn they have a common goal, working for a better future. I adored these two characters and loved that they did not let their past dictate their future and their determination to make a better life for themselves. These two were great together and for each other, Adrian, aka Angel, was patient with Taylor and let him tell his story at his own pace. He was also accepting of him and who he was as a person, unlike his own family. Taylor was there for Angel, and so were the others from Foxxxy. Sometimes a chosen family is better than the one you were born into, and they have your back, regardless. This wonderfully plotted story has the perfect balance of drama, angst, heartfelt emotions, and a loving romance. Nikole Knight, thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Eddie Herrera is a versatile voice artist, and he did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life, giving each their own distinct voice, accents and all, making it easy to follow along and tell who was who. He had a complete understanding of the characters he was portraying and was believable in each role. You could hear how much heart he put into his performance as he captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling each one. Herrera set the perfect tone for the story and his pacing was spot on. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this fantastic listen.
