Summary
I might have gone from rags to riches, but this is no fairy tale.
I never thought I’d long for the days of pacing the living room of our tiny single-wide trailer, waiting for Mom to get home from her shift serving drinks at The Silver Fox. Or my boring night shifts at the convenience store. Even dodging my skeezy ex-boyfriend’s bumbling attempts to seduce me.
To say my life wasn’t great was an understatement. But at least it was mine.
Or it was until Mom came home and announced she was getting married. That was the day my life became unrecognizable.
As if a new home and a new family weren’t enough, I found myself enrolled at Everly Prep — an exclusive academy where the rich send their pampered and privileged teenagers to be educated.
And it was immediately obvious I didn’t belong.
Patronizing staff members, mean girls, and snobs galore greeted me as I roamed the hallowed halls, but it didn’t bother me. I invited them to do their worst.
Then I met them.
Seth, Theo, Cooper, and Mason — known as “The Rogues” — ran the school with iron fists and wicked tongues, making Everly Prep their own private kingdom. They were powerful, gorgeous, and brutal, a deadly combination that made them invincible.
And I was the perfect target…or so they thought. But I'm Chaz Miller, and I don't go down without a fight.
This is a dark high school romance with light bullying themes. Though there are four male main characters, it will not be reverse harem. There is one main love interest and there will be an HEA...eventually.

I.am.HOOKED!!
I don't know why.. But this whole trope gets me every time, and this story is especially well done so far! It's wonderfully written, and so packed with hot guys, mean girls, teenage drama and angst. I got hooked right away! I LOVED Chaz and Josh as well!
Kasi Hollowell is just outright amazing at narrating, each and every character gets a voice that matches their persona, and they are easily extinguished. Bravo!!

My Thoughts on The First Time
A very impressive series starter. Chaz was a very strong, independent and really likable character for me. I liked being in her head. I sometimes wished there had been some chapters from the rogues point of view though. There are definitely some secrets being kept from her, and I’m very interested to learn what they are. And I liked the ending of the book and how it perfectly set things up for a book two.
The narration was great. Kasi Hollowell’s tones and different voices for the different characters are pretty good. But I liked her voice in general. I look forward to hearing more by her in future.

Fabulous First Book!!!
This audio kept me up WAY TOO LATE last night, but I HAD to finish!! If you like steamy twists, secrets & bombs going off, and a book you can’t put down run to get The First Time by Wendi L. Wilson!! It’s an enemies to lovers with unique characters and situations! I can’t explain without spoilers but needless to say I can’t wait for the next one! All three books are out on KU but I’m hooked on the audio! Kasi Hollowell is Amazing! She makes each female and male character distinct and fun! Thank you so much #AudiobookObsession and #PinkFlamingoProductions for introducing me to this author!

Good Listen
Chaz is new to the school and already has enemies due to where she is from. After one crazy video she thinks the boys are now on her side. They blindside her and now she does not know what to do. She must realize that she has to fight for herself and she comes out swinging.🎧 Audiobook Obsession

Excellent read.
I received this audiobook at my request via promo code from The Flock and this is my honest voluntary review.
Book One of the Rogues of Everly Prep series.
Chaz aka Chasity Ann Miller is a girl displaced, her mother has bagged herself a wealthy guy and now they have traded up from their trailer park to Elite Private Schools and Dynasty level Mansions. Set (her soon to be stepbro) and his friends Theo, Cooper, and Mason—known as “The Rogues” have decided that Gold digging Chaz has to go. I absolutely adored Josh, her GBFF! He certainly made for good moral support considering the bullying reached some Veronica Mars level snooping. Hidden cameras, bugs etc, it all got quite James Bond gadgets for a bunch of teenagers, but I suppose they are all a bunch of privileged bratty snobs.
I finished this in one sitting, Kasi Hollowell did an amazing job bringing all the teen angst to life.

Chas. Has stolen my heart and just will not give it back and i dont even think i want it back with what she went through she deserves all the love. Such an enjoyable bully romance and I loved the over the top spying and gadgets and what not it gave it a really believable bratty rich feel
The narration i found really highlighted a lot of the emotions and this drew me in further added in the personalities that were given and it felt like I knew these people. Fabulous book and I cant wait to get my hands on the next one.

Great bully romance
Chaz lives with her mother in a trailer one night she comes home from her job serving drinks at the Silver Fox to tell Chaz she’s getting married. Her life changes over night when she finds herself moving into a huge house and being enrolled at Everly Prep an exclusive academy where the means girls are out to make her life hell along with 4 guys who run the school but Chez isn’t easily beaten. Enjoyed listening to the first in the series and I’m looking forward to listening to more.

SO many questions
So the lead up is enough to drive me mad, the drama is so good, but the slow burn/slow start to a series makes this book seem incomplete. It needs something else.. I'm not completely sure what though. I'm really hoping for book 2 to give me the answer I'm looking for.
The Rogues are intriguing but the question marks surrounding them are confusing. I'm not really sure what is going on or what is happening but the stuff they have already thrown at Chaz makes me weary of them. I don't know whether I love or hate them yet and that makes me uneasy.
I love Chaz Miller and her feisty self and her strength. She is resourceful and doesn't go down without a fight and I love a heroine like that.
I can't wait to see what drama unfolds in book 2. I am hoping for answers but not sure I want to know the answers at the same time!

Dark High School Romance
The First Time by Wendi L. Wilson is a dark high school romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Kasi Hollowell. This is the first book in the Rogues of Everly Prep series.
The book comes with a note from author "This is a dark high school romance with light bullying themes. Though there are four male main characters, it will not be reverse harem. There is one main love interest and there will be an HEA... eventually."
This is the first book of Wendi's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I absolutely love Chaz and Joshua's friendship.
I can't wait for the next book in the series The Second Move to be released on audio so I can get more of Chaz, Mason, Cooper, Theo, Seth, and Joshua.
Kasi did an amazing job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of her work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like dark romances, bullying romances, or contemporary romances.
