Summary

Desperate to delay an impending attack by the indigenous people of Xidda, Tau and his queen craft a dangerous plan. If Tau succeeds, the queen will have the time she needs to assemble her forces and launch an all-out assault on her own capital city, where her sister is being propped up as the 'true' Queen of the Omehi.

If the city can be taken, if Tsiora can reclaim her throne and reunite her people, then the Omehi might have a chance to survive the coming onslaught.

Incredible

The story is incredible. A great entry into the African based fantasy genre. All the characters are very human and flawed making the book an even more enticing and engaging read. Can’t wait for the best entry in the series

Amazing and fast fantasy.

I was swept away with the story and rage od this book. It ended so that its fights are not done, but knowing that there will be sequels, it is as it should be.
Great fantasy, don’t miss it.

Amazing book

I plough through tons of fantasy books every year but this series is one of my favorites as of now. Excellent and unique world building, great characters and a really engaging story. The narrator Prentice Onayemi does an outstanding job in relaying its contents. As a final remark I would say that whoever is the sound mixer/producer should really learn to use de-essers, or at the very minimum, equalizing and compressing it properly. I've never come across an audiobook where esses are this sharp and clear, almost to the point of hurting your ears at some points if you have high enough volume.

Greatly Enjoyed

This kind of fantasy is not my go to choice, I generally prefer less war and fighting, however the story is well written, interesting and rich in characters. The narration is soothing yet engaging and helps me vividly see the tale play out in my mind.
An excellent 2nd book, looking forward to reading the final installment.

Very nice story

It's been a while since I've read something that felt this good. Once you get past the African accent, the world and its characters come alive. I like where the plot is going also, gives off Warcraft vibes.

One of the best books out there

Magnificent story and storytelling, on par with wheel of time. These are my favourite books of 2023. The narrator could learn how to pronounce Southern African names authentically though; he managed it for the west African names.
