About this listen
It's 1944, after D-day. Doodlebugs are the latest threat to war-battered Southern England. Local crook Samuel Golden is still finding ways to exploit people's hardship for his own gain. Heroine Em, whom we first met in The Munitions Girls, finds herself caught up in one such scheme while having to deal with her daughter's unexpected pregnancy.
Female friendship, wartime drama, mothers and daughters and finding a good man in the end - it's all there in this sparkling new saga from Rosie Archer.

Enjoyable book
Good book but preferred authors previous books. Great ending and slowly unraveling the characters life story.

love the book
book was great but don't like the voice of the lady talking she talks to slow I didn't check I just assumed it was going to be Anne Dover who read munition girls that was a great book. I'm going to have to buy the other 2 books in this series to read myself as this lady reads the rest of them.

Loved yet another
I have loved the whole series of these books not only the storyline but the characters as well, just downloaded the last one to start straightaway. The narrator is good as well.

Wonderful
Loved the third installment of this series. The book continues with the characters stories and what is was like to live during the war and the hardships they endured. The only disappointment for me was that they changed the Barre after the first installment and for me I did not enjoy listening to her as much. A word of caution as I have also read book four and was very disappointed. I will not go into detail as I would not want to spoil the ending for everyone else, however I feel they 'abandoned' some of the characters which I found really disappointing.

Heartwarming story
Full of love, laughter, sadness and kindness this book has a good balance of heartwarming wartime drama, secrets and happiness.
I wish the narator left more of a gap between chapters and took a longer breath between unconnected paragraphs ad varied voice tone accordingly as it is hard to keep track and can all start to blend together if you are not paying attention.
