About this listen
Reports indicate that one in twenty children in the UK are being sexually abused at any one time. One in six boys will be sexually abused by the time he is sixteen. One in three children will never tell of their abuse due to ninety percent of child sex abusers being known to the child.
Andrew was one of those faceless statistics, one that was swept under the carpet by a largely ignorant population who have no idea what happens in the supposed safety of homes. Using the innocent, puppy love crush that he had on his best friend’s dad, he was manipulated into accepting sex as a sign of love and, to show that love, he would submit to the desires of the adults who targeted him.
Starting a couple of months before his twelfth birthday, Andrew endured a confusing eighteen months of experimentation, sexual awakening, coercion, and disguised abuse which shaped his future sexual outlook.
This is the journal that he has written as he battles through the rose-tinted memories of his early life, from the boyish experiences with his best friend and how he enjoyed the attention of Matt, his crush, to the horror of blocked memories of the men who took advantage of that crush for their own sexual desires.
This book is a real-life account of surviving child sexual abuse and as such, the listener is accordingly cautioned that there are scenes and emotions described that some will find upsetting and disturbing.
