Story
Christmas on the remote Scottish island of Mure is bleak, stark - and incredibly beautiful. It's a time for hunkering down, getting cosy in front of whisky barrel wood fires and enjoying a dram with the people you love - unless, of course, you're accidentally pregnant to your ex-boss and don't know how to tell him. In what should be the season of peace and goodwill on earth, will Joel think Flora is a bearer of glad tidings?

Story
Maggie went to the window and opened it wide, inhaling the lovely, ozoney air off the sea. Why had she never lived by the sea before? Why had she always looked out on housing estates and not the little white hulls of trawlers bobbing off in the distance? It's gloriously sunny in Cornwall as the school year starts at the little boarding school by the sea.

While Katie's glad it's not a man's world anymore, she'd be quite pleased if there were more men in it - or at least single ones, anyway. More likely to get murdered than married, according to gleeful media reports, Katie resigns herself to the fact there's no sex in the city and heads for the hills - or the Scottish Highlands, to be precise. Summary
Run away to a beautiful Scottish island and let the unmissable new audiobook from Sunday Times best seller Jenny Colgan warm up your spring!
Dreams start here....
On the quayside next to the Endless Beach sits the Summer Seaside Kitchen. It's a haven for tourists and locals alike, who all come to eat the freshest local produce on the island and catch up with the gossip. Flora, who runs the café, feels safe and content - unless she thinks too hard about her relationship with Joel, her gorgeous but emotionally (and physically) distant boyfriend. While Flora is in turmoil about her relationship, her best friend, Lorna, is pining after the local doctor.
Saif came to the island as a refugee, having lost all of his family. But he's about to get some shocking news which will change everything for him. As cold winter nights shift to long summer days, can Flora find her happy ever after with Joel?

Could have been a really nice read but...
This book had such promise the setting and the storyline should have made this a good read, however, the male voices prevented that. The male voices and that of the little girl Agate, who I struggled to understand, spoilt this book, I really couldn't understand Agate why she spoke in the way she did! One of the main male characters sounded like a gangster and the voice prevented me warming to this character at all! In fact, the majority of the main voices were pretty awful. I felt the end of the book was sudden and a cop out! this is not a book I will listen to again.

Fantastic read, hope there is a part 3
I really loved listening to this. I fell in loved with all the characters. I feel like I knew them all and couldn’t wait to get back listening to the book.
My favourite characters were flora, lorna, Caleb, Colton to say a few.
Flora is one of the main characters was working in the city and have come home cooking and got her own little Cafe up and running. Also had some romantic issues going on with Joe. In one part of the book she goes to New York the way the writer discribes the scenery in all its colour and depth, have made me want to go there. I would recommend this book to anyone there is something in it for anyone. It is a warm whippy well good book

Excellent, easy read and satisfying!
What made the experience of listening to The Endless Beach the most enjoyable?
The accents and the storyline worked well together.
What other book might you compare The Endless Beach to, and why?
Very unlike other books by Jenny Colgan as had more depth. Very topical.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes at times!

Least Favourite of Jenny’s books so far
It took me ages to get into this one.
Too many characters at the beginning to get my head around, started to un-ravel and then I started to enjoy....
I felt there were far too many intertwined story’s in the book, who’s characters, & all their individual parts within the story felt rushed.
All ended too soon, without any real closure, likely book 2 coming.
Disliked the narrator, her voice for the 4 yr old was far too young and became annoying.
Nothing like the Seaside kitchen trio.....

Where does The Endless Beach rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Very high, I really enjoyed the characters and story line. I liked that the relationships were fairly believable and realistic, instead of everything being perfect.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Saif. I enjoyed the storyline about his children and how he learnt to cope in a new country and in a new situation. He was also kind and laid back.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
When their dad walked Finton down the aisle.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The ending was quite sad
Any additional comments?
I didn't like the voice for the child (Aget), but then I often find adults narrator a child's voice a bit cringy.

This story held my interest all the way through. I love Mure and all the characters on the island. But please let there be a #3 in this series. I want more of them, to see the characters story line continue even more. Really liked the narrator, thought she did a wonderful job with all the different characters and their accents.
