Editor reviews

Simon Prebble, narrator extraordinaire, adds panache to Laurens's Regency romance. Beautiful and determined Emily Ensworth must help handsome and dashing former soldier Gareth Hamilton in his mission to deliver a secret letter from India to England and eliminate as many of the Black Cobra's cultists as possible in the process - all while determining if Gareth is her one and only. Prebble's upper-crust English delivery, fine acting skills, broad repertoire of accents and voices, and perfect timing do much to enhance a story that is somewhat less interesting than the author's usual fare.

Summary

A second battle-hardened, completely unstoppable, all-male hero, an ex-officer of the Crown, confronts the deadly enemy known only as the Black Cobra. He's focused on his mission, then sees a lady he never dreamed he'd see again - with an assassin on her heels. She secretly followed him, unaware her path is deadly - or that she'll join him to battle a treacherous foe.Through ever-present peril, through passion, desire, and ecstasy, they race to reach England - and their destiny.

Another brilliant story

Loved every second of it. This series is definitely a brilliant continuation of the Cynster series. I love that all the heroes and heroines of the Cynster series are involved in each of the stories.
Simon Prebble makes the story even better with his narration. He's one of my favourite narrators.
Now on to the next one.

The Stalker Bride is more relevnt

What disappointed you about The Elusive Bride?

She is selfish and manipulative, I felt sorry for him, what man turns his back on sex. She has been husband hunting for sometime, she see him and decides that he could be the ONE.
So she sets out to catch him as long as he fills all her criteria, so despite all the danger that is swelling around them and his very important mission. She keeps to her plan to prove he is the one and everything has to be on her timeline and according to her plans. Naturally this involves lots of sex. I would really wish to know what was "ELUSIVE" about her.

What could Stephanie Laurens have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

It is amazing that this book is written by a woman, when the Heroine is so unlikable. I like the story about the Black Cobra and plots involved, but this book left me skipping to the end.

Would you be willing to try another one of Simon Prebble’s performances?

I didn't like the accent, I think if you can't do it properly, then don't try.

What character would you cut from The Elusive Bride?

Sadly the so called Elusive Bride.

Any additional comments?

This book is part of a sequel and so can't be avoided.

Good story but too much soft porn

I would've enjoyed the story without a heroine who thinks nothing but how to get laid. In the early 19th century when they wouldn't even have used their given names before marriage.
