Summary
For a duchess with practical desires, falling in love is an inconceivable part of her plan....
As owner of the Elysium Club which caters to women’s fantasies, Aiden Trewlove is accustomed to introducing adventurous ladies to sin and vice. But he is uncharacteristically intrigued by the mysterious beauty who visits his club one night, yearning to indulge in the forbidden - with him. Drawn to her indomitable spirit, he breaks his rule of never becoming personally involved with his clientele and is determined to fully awaken her desires.
A recent widow, Selena Sheffield, Duchess of Lushing, has never known passion, not until Aiden’s slow, sensual seduction leads her on a journey of discovery and incredible pleasure. But her reasons for visiting the notorious club are not all that they seem.
As Selena’s motives become complicated by love, she finds herself with a most unexpected choice: forge ahead with a secret plan that could secure her future - or follow her heart which could prove ruinous.

Far fetched but entertaining
A house of vice for respectable gentlewomen who talk openly in polite society of their visits? Unmarried noblewomen mixing socially with bastards? These are just two of the unlikely situations; there are more but this audiobook isn't meant to be taken seriously.

I didn't want it to end!
Just when I think that this series has met its emotional depth or that I've met my favorite Trewlove sibling, Lorraine Heath manages to knock me on my butt in wonder and awe. Aiden and Selena's story kept me immersed from beginning to end and wanting more (in the best way possible). Their mutual devotion to their families, their strong (and well developed) personalities, and the palpable chemistry that morphed into something much more are all ingredients to a gripping book that stayed with me long after I finished. I also really loved the connection (and cameos) from the Scoundrel's of St. James series - it makes me hope that perhaps we'll see another spinoff after we get the last two Trewlove siblings' tales. 5 out of 5 wine glasses.

A favorite duo - Lorraine & Kate
A fresh new story, not a fairy tale, but a feasible tale told with passion. I just re-listened to this book today. It was dark and rainy, a perfect day to snuggle up with a Lorraine & Kate. Excellent story, well read and totally worth a credit.

Duties be damned
Selena Sheffield had married the Duke of Lushing to help support her family. Lushing married her to beget an heir, again responsibility to his family. They cared for each other but never loved each other. After seven years of marriage, the Duke fell ill and died, without his heir. He was the last of his line and if Selena couldn’t show that she was carrying his child within a very short time everything would revert to the crown. She would only receive a small sum quarterly and a cottage in which to reside. For the sake of her sisters futures she must become pregnant quickly and she had chosen the sire, a well to do illegitimate son of an Earl named Aiden Trewlove. What she hadn’t planned on was caring so much about him.
Kate Reading offered an excellent narration that allowed me to envision the characters. I had read the book, but the audio added to my delight and enjoyment by giving voice to characters, giving me the freedom to simply listen. I had time to imagine the settings described by the author. I first fell in love with Aiden and Selena. As the tale played out, I became wrapped up in the storyline. By the end of the book, I knew I had to open the pages and fall into the rest of Lorraine Heath’s stories. And after devouring the books, I can once again listen to the tales come to life through Audible Books. Enjoy but know there is heat and spice in these tales.

Another winner
I LOVED this story. It was so great to see Adien's heart begin to open and how great to see closure on the vile Earl! Kate Reading is one of the BEST narrators around. Go. Buy.

Not the best of series
This series is great...sadly this book is just good. Almost seems author was in a rush to make this book happen and just didn't give it the attention she gave the other books in the series.
Still worth it...because its got most of our favorite past characters...and the series can handle one only good book.

Disappointing
I have been a fan of Lorraine Heath and own several of her audiobooks. Very happy with the sims for all seasons previous books, but this one just doesn’t live up to those. Hero and heroine were too cardboard, falling in love right off. Wouldn’t spend the credit.

Love Lorraine Heath, but very disappointed
I really love this series, But was very disappointed with this story. This family has its interactions with nobility, But ultimately, they hold to the values of love and kindness.Aiden veered and Did not really return to what I so love about this family. It is difficult to review this without giving anything away. And all in all, I will still purchase and read the next in the series.

I laughed, I cried, I felt such gratitude for the loves I’ve known
Thank you, Lorraine Heath!!! Never expected so much from anything but Proust. You’ve left out Vinteuil’s sonata, but Aidan’s paintings are resonant reminders of Vermeer’s yellow wall. Thank you!!

Melancholic Series
The story line and series is cute but leaves the reader with a sense of melancholy even though they end up with a sort of "happy ever after" ending.

THE BEST SERIES!
Lorraine Heath has become a favorite author whom I'll always want more of. This series taught that LOVE TRUMPS ALL!! Plus kindness, caring for others & being a good person whether you are rich or poor! They all were beautiful books about what REALLY counts in life. You cannot take things with you to the grave, but you WILL be remembered for what kind of person you were & how you treated others! Do please get this entire series as they go so perfectly together with the characters & stories! 1 just isn't enough! Kate Reading was great at narrating! I'd also gladly listen to her narrate another author's book & will keep my eye out for her! This was (I think I keep saying this-oh dear!) one of my favorite books!! Profoundly touching, & will move your heart to new heights!
