Summary
War can get a fellow killed.
The fearless draconians of the War of the Lance have retired from the field of battle to a pleasant valley in the Kharolis Mountains. Well, it would be pleasant, if it weren't for some dwarves, whose irritating feuding prevents the draconians from realizing their greatest hope - the ability to continue their doomed race. When the dwarves discover a map leading to a fortune buried in the dwarven kingdom of Thorbardin, the draconians are swept up in a feverish race for treasure.
Little do both sides realize that they are part of the strange and terrible destiny descending upon Krynn during the Summer of Flame. A desinty that includes the children of Chaos...the fire dragons!
The Doom Brigade is the first installment in The Chaos War series, stories set during the war of the Dragons of Summer Flame, the New York Times best-selling novel co-authored by Margaret Weis.

Nostalgia
I havent read the whole dragonlance book series but my sister introduced me to kang's regiment when I was bit3 a wee lad. The good part is that you don't have to know the whole story to get immersed with this series, and I enjoy it as much today as I did when I was little. I know some people do not like that this isn't 100% canonical but most of the things in the dragonlance that happened to kang and his group was mostly just hearsay.
I truly enjoy this series and this was truly a patch on the wound, since I have been looking for physical copies for years now. Apparently they weren't that popular in my country.
Can for certain be recommended both to veterans of the dragonlance series as well as newcomers.

Great story and great narrator!
This has been one of my favorite books since it came out and so at first I was apprehensive about getting the audiobook, due to Audible's poor selection of narrators. I'm glad I was pleasantly surprised and want to thank Nick Sullivan, for his amazing performance! He was on point with character voices and his ability to bring life into the story! The next Dragonlance books I look at will be the ones narrated by him.
As for the story, it's great and very entertaining. It's got parts that will have you laughing and other parts that completely pull you in.

Fantastic Fun
What did you love best about The Doom Brigade?
The characters are inanimately enjoyable. Kang and Selquist are both interesting well rounded and wonderful. Slyth is also great as is Ogger and Mortar and Pestle. Wonderful cast and Nick Sullivan is an exquisite voice actor
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Doom Brigade?
There are many memorable moments and in truth, i've no desire to spoil them by writing them here. You get attached to the characters and their circumstances, when things start to happen you get swept up in action just as they do.
Which scene was your favorite?
Last few chapters of the book were somehow even more fantastic than the chapters leading up to them and the payoff at the end is awesome.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Sometimes survival isn't enough.
Any additional comments?
Man I wish that there was more to this series then just 2 books! I'm guessing that it just didn't attract the appropriate attention when it came out in 1996, but man, it should have. This is a very fun read. I'm off to go buy the next book in the series. Much love to Perin and Weis.

I can feel myself getting stupider as I listen
The average intelligence score for the characters in this book is somewhere between 6 and 8. The plot feels like something someone came up with to use as a bedtime story for their 7 year old, and it's written like if that 7 year old tried putting it to paper when they turned 14. I had to roll an INT save every time I hit play to resist losing more brain cells, and I'm pretty sure I failed most of them.

I fell in love with Dracos
Never expected draconians to pull me into a story and be characters I came to love and wanted more of but this book sure did. Love the narrator. Enough flair and presentation without being over the top and nailed a believable voice for the main characters.
