Summary

A year has passed since the Dark Wizard Myrin attempted to take control of the Kingdom of Verania. Though the scars of the final battle remain, Veranians have come together in unity in order to rebuild. Good King Anthony sits on the throne once more, with Morgan of Shadows at his side.

However, a king is not immortal. One day, Anthony will step down, paving the way for his son, Grand Prince Justin, to assume the throne. And Justin wants anything but.

Unfortunately for him, he finds himself with bigger things to worry about than just becoming the ruler of a country. At the celebration of the might of Verania and its people, a delegation arrives, led by a man who calls himself a magician. This man represents the king of Yennbridge, who has come to claim what was promised to him years before: the hand of the firstborn son of the king and queen of Verania. With his ridiculous friends at his side—Sam, Ryan, Kevin, Gary, and Tiggy—Justin sets out to make the visiting king’s life a living hell. Which, of course, backfires spectacularly, and when the dust settles, Justin finds his friends changed in ways he can’t expect, leaving him standing alone.

Except he’s not as alone as he thinks, given the king of Yennbridge will do anything to prove he’s worthy of the frozen heart of the Ice Prince.

Prince Justin has finally met his match. Let the games begin.

Perfect, perfect, perfect!

Soooo good. So many laughs. A year after the defeat of the darks Justin has the chance for his HEA when king Dillon, from a northern land arrives saying he was promised to Justin from birth. This brings the gang back together, Sam, Ryan, Tiggy, Kevin and Gary but changed, temporarily, hopefully. The wizards are back and so are the dragons to fight yet another fight for Verania. Fantastic addition to the Tales with awesome narration, or more correctly, performance from Michael Lesley. I really hope the ending is a set up for another book.

Best Series Evah!

Capitalized, so you know it's true. Honestly this last book just solidified this series spot amongst my favourites ever.
Justin had a massive redemption arc throughout the whole series but especially in this book, I loved that it was from his point of view as well!
Bro. Dylan is just the best (Ryan and Dylan best hymbo duo hands down)
I already know at this point that I'm going to go through all the emotions with T. J. Klune books and it didn't disappoint. Michael Leslie and his countless voices brought a new life to such creation and I couldn't be happier.
Thank you both for giving us such beauty!!

Stunning, funny, and heart-breaking

This is a gorgeous book that weaves serious issues such as PTSD and 'what happens after the heroes win' with beautiful writing reflecting a character's journey to emotional vulnerability, all wrapped up in sumptuous humour. The character development of the previous books is great and it is such a good idea to have Justin as the narrator. There is a humanising and an identification with the character. And thank you so much for the laughter that gives the light to the shade. It is a well balanced book. I absolutely need a 6th instalment please.

Fantastic

I was a little apprehensive at first because it's not part of the main story line but carries on from their Ever After in Justin's perspective. At first, I thought this would be damaging to the book but I found it oddly charming. The one thing that I have learnt from reading this is that everyone needs therapy.

Good

This was good, however I felt like the story could have been more Justin centred especially beer already had 4 books of Sam and the gang. Was a bit disappointed as Justin and his beau didn’t really get a lot of time together.

never want to hear the word "Bro" again.

It's definitely not my favourite book of the series. I love that it's based on the prince but I honestly just found Dylan annoying but that could just be caused by the fact that sometimes it feels like 'bro' is the only word he knows.
But he isn't a bad person at all... just hard to listen to.

Some of it just felt predictable and just underwhelming.

I understand its about the prince but I really wished we could have seen Sam rant to his friends and family after finding out who the bag guy is.

that said, I'm really happy that the prince found happiness and I was really happy with the ending.
