Summary

A centuries-old skeleton is discovered in a lonely Scottish Castle. It wears a crown and hides a curse. Swift, the detective friend of Major Heathcliff Lennox, now lives at Braeburn Castle, and it was he who uncovered the skeleton. As ghosts are heard and treasure-seekers appear, the murders begin. Lennox must go to Braeburn and investigate as Halloween draws near.

Best one yet!

I’m really enjoying this series by Karen Menuhin and Sam Dewhust-Phillips has the most divine voice! My only criticism is that if ex chief inspector Swift tightens the belt of his trench coat one more time, he will be completely devoid of breath!

The curse of Braeburn castle

I really enjoyed the curse of Braeburn Castle, the story was good, it kept making me smile, and I loved the voice of Sam Dewhurst-Phillips, in fact I listened to it twice.

As good as the first two books in this series

Although a little gory in places it is a well put together story. I can really lose myself in the atmosphere, characters and events thanks to the great writing and the superb performance by the narrator. This book is a little reminiscent of Amelia Peabody's exploits ;).

A ripping yarn

You really feel the author’s growing confidence in this book. The characters are becoming more clearly defined and three dimensional. The story as well hits a really good pace, with a great balance of mystery and wit. One of the most fun reads I’ve had for a long time.

A great story...

l loved every moment of this story, with its twists and turns, as well as its fantastic narration, the characters came alive. l was there in that castle with its spooky atmsphere. So well written l never guessed who the murderer was.

As a lover of gentle murder mysteries since I was old enough to read my mother’s collection of Agatha Christie, Raymond Chandler. Dorothy L. Sayers, etc. I was thrilled to find Karen Menuhin.

The Curse of Braeburn Castle is the third book to which I have listened. Each one has been a delight and not disappointed in any way.

Enjoy Sam Dewhurst-Phillips voice as it is just perfect!

Do hope you enjoy as much as I have.
