Summary

Random House presents the audiobook edition of The Crippled God: The Malazan Book of the Fallen 10 by Steven Erikson, read by Michael Page.

The Bonehunters are marching to Kolanse and to an unknown fate. Tormented and exhausted, they are an army on the brink of mutiny. But Adjunct Tavore will not relent. If she can hold her forces together, if the fragile alliances she has forged can survive and if it is within her power, one final act remains. For Tavore Paran means to challenge the gods.

Ranged against Tavore and her allies are formidable foes. The Fokrul Assail are drawing upon a terrible power; their desire is to cleanse the world - to eradicate every civilisation, to annihilate every human - in order to begin anew. The Elder Gods, too, are seeking to return. And to do so, they will shatter the chains that bind a force of utter devastation and release her from her eternal prison. It seems that, once more, there will be dragons in the world.

And in Kurald Galain, where the once-lost city of Kharkanas has been found, thousands have gathered upon the First Shore. Commanded by Yedan Derryg, they await the coming of the Tiste Liosan. Are they truly ready to die in the name of an empty city and a queen with no subjects?

In every world there comes a time when choice is no longer an option - a moment when the soul is laid bare and there is nowhere left to turn. And when this last hard truth is faced, when compassion is a virtue on its knees, what is there left to do? Now that time is come - now is the moment to proclaim your defiance and make a stand....

And so begins the final cataclysmic chapter in Steven Erikson's extraordinary, genre-defining Malazan Book of the Fallen.

Epic series that top on my list of re-reads

Looking for an audiobook for 4 hour car journeys, I remembered my sons raving about these books.
I was hooked by the middle of the first book. My short term memory is not good and the multithreaded storyline and foreign names was a challenge for me, but we’ll worth the effort.
I lost my way completely starting the second book. So started it again and eureka never lost the plot all the way to a satisfying and emotional end.
I think I’ll be listening to some of Stevens other related books and eventually return to this series.

all in all great series, chain of dogs was my favourate of the 10 books

i thought chain of dogs was my favourate of the 10 books, albeit the most tragic, all in all i thouroughly enjoyed the series but i would say i got lost every now and then due to the fact i often listen while falling asleep and losing where i had last listened up to with this story which jumps around was tough, if you want a long series to get stuck into its worth it from the beggining, but also each book works as a stand alone which for many people is a big plus. The ending was always going to be tough to pull off and i feel like i missed a few bits/characters conclusion, but frankly considering the sprawling narritive i think author did a pretty decent job, goodbye bridgeburners

Wet eyes

Getting through the last 10hrs of this book, can’t stop weeping, the apple in my throat will not go.

What makes this epic story so amazing is how it makes you feel for each character that you love and those that you don’t.

The words used in the book, really rips your heart out, I’m really enjoying how it is making me feel, let’s you know the SE has done his job and made his readers spill their emotions out when hearing the words spoken by Michael.

I am so happy with making the decision to pick up this book but also saddened that it’s coming to an end .

Epic finale

Heroic, tragic, funny, heartwarming, inspiring. If you got this far in the series you’ll already know all this.
Fantastic narration too. There is no better fantasy series (except perhaps LOTR).

The fitting capstone to a masterwork

Absolutely brilliant <3 It was quite a challenge, giving a series such as this the ending it deserved, but Eriksson did it masterfully.

Nothing short of perfection.

I've been wanting to revisit the Malazan Book Of The Fallen for a while now. And due to a quirk of fate I ended up with a handful of Audible credits. So I figured... why not?

I will forever be grateful that I did. The Malazan Book Of The Fallen is one of the greatest series of all time, and The Crippled God is a worthy finale. Michael Page's performance is loaded with emotion and brings these wonderful characters to life in a way that does them and Erikson's work justice.

I only wish I could wipe it all from my memory, so I could go back and experience it all for the first time, again. It was one HELL of a journey.

A spectacular end to the most epic fantasy series I have ever read

There will be few for whom this review will be useful. If you have reached book 10, then you will not be able to stop yourself. I wept and laughed, winced and punched the air.

If you’ve not read any of the series begin your journey at Gardens of the Moon.

Thank you!

What a masterpiece this 10 book saga is. I have no idea what to do now. These books have been a part of me for a year now. If there only was a pill out there that could clear it from my brain so I could experience this wonderful world for the frist time all over again.

Thank you Steven (and Michael for an unrivaled performance)
