Pharaoh's daughters don't cry. When we make our way down the tiled hall, I try to stop at ummi Kiya's chamber. I know her spirit has flown, yet I long for one more moment. Amenia pushes me past so I keep walking and don't look back. Like the waters of the Nile, I will flow.

Summary
Wife to a gambler who took one too many risks, Rahab finds herself sold as a slave to cover her husband's debt. Forced into prostitution, she despairs of ever regaining her freedom and her self-respect. But when Israelite spies enter Jericho and come to lodge at her house, Rahab sees a glimmer of hope and the opportunity of a lifetime. In one risky moment, she takes a leap of faith, puts her trust in a God she does not know, and vows to protect the spies from the authorities.
When the armies of Israel arrive weeks later, Rahab hopes they will keep their promise, but she has no idea what kind of challenges await her outside Jericho's walls - or if she will ever know the meaning of love.
Under Jill Eileen Smith's talented hand, the familiar story of Rahab bursts forth in high definition. Immerse yourself in a world of dark and dusty streets, clandestine meetings, and daring escapes as a mysterious biblical figure claims her full humanity - and a permanent place in your heart.

Good book, inexperienced narrator
Ms. Smith wrote a very good piece of Christian fiction. The story was so interesting, and she included a lot of cultural things that were really great to learn. My only complaint is the narrator, She didn't change voices or lower her voice for the men. It was confusing sometimes to figure out who was talking. Flexibility in her vocal range would have really given this book a more exciting edge. She used very little emotion when people were dying. Too bad, because that really detracted from a very good book. I'm an audio book narrator who is an actor so I listen to the narrators very closely. It was well edited, so the production was good.
Otherwise, if you can get past a narrator that needs some acting skills, you'll like it if this genre is something you are interested in.

Inspiring
The Crimson Cord is a story that illustrates the love and mercy of Adoni, brought to life in this story of Rahab, a forgiven child of God blessed to become a part of our Lord's lineage. Listening to this story drew me to read the book of Joshua and reminded be of how much our God loves and is willing to to forgive and restore us.

Excellent Story!
Ms. Smith was able to weave a wonderful, full and rewarding story out of the Bible's limited details about Rahab. The story held my interest all the way to the end! Callie Beaulieu did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life. I highly recommend this book and I'm off to download book 2 - The Prophetess!

Rahab really came to life!
The author did a wonderful job developing the characters and giving us an in depth look at what life may have been like then. Her focus on the internal struggles of each individual really immerses the reader in the story and gives a view from all sides. The narration was a major disappointment. It lacked emotion and natural flow, and is the only thing that prevented a five star rating.

Wow amazing perspective
The author has done amazing research to come to her perspective of Rahab. The perspective through the eyes of a Christian trying to understand how it was that a prostitute was in such close lineage to our Savior. The Lion of Judah. The Lamb of God. Thank you for this blessing

Great insight and perspective
Great listening material. Narrator was engaging, however the material was woven with color, feeling, sound and a panorama sensation of almost being apart of every scene. Thank you for expansion of "what if." Rahab asking to shave her hair, pregnant, escaping, talking her family in coming into her home, the break from inn keeper to home owner and her first marriage were riveting. Her age/ timeline was harder to comprehend and the sudden and silent slip into obscure space of her family was almost to abrupt, but understood for transitioning the story. Great book.
