Summary
Decades ago, a mysterious treasure vanished in the middle of the night. But the secrets it held were worth more than gold.
The thrilling follow-up to The Secret of the Stones sends former government agent Sean Wyatt and his sidekick Tommy Schultz from the deserts of the American southwest to the hills and jungles of Ecuador in a perilous race to find the mysterious lost treasure.
The treasure is somehow linked to the legendary Lost Chambers of Gold that has remained hidden for thousands of years. But the chambers hold a deeper secret, one on which an evil mastermind has his sights set.
Along the way, Sean and Tommy find ancient clues that lead the way to the next of the lost chambers, and with a little help from the beautiful Adriana Villa, they may be the first to reach it.

Potential not found
Wanted this series to be good. Like some of the characters, but can’t see them being so blind to being followed. Here is a main character who is supposed to be paranoid and never checks for listening devices or figures out bad guys just happen to strike time after time. Gave second book a chance, but won’t listen to the third.

Boring
I like this particular genre in novels. I count Baldacci, Dan Brown, Preston & Child as great practitioners of the art of complex plot, well developed characters, and engaging narrative.
I've listened to the first two books in Mr. Dempsey's series twice. I separated it by several months, thinking the second round would give me a fresh perspective. Sad to say, I liked them less the second time through. The characters are formulative and shallow. The storyline in The Cleric's Vault is a rinse and repeate of the prior novel.
I seldom have anything bad to say about the narration, John Glouchevitch's rendering of the characters did nothing to improve the story. His characterization came across as whining.
I know the author invests a great deal in the creation of these works. Being critical of the work is difficult. My advice to the author, is to work harder at character development and plot.

Story line Has potential, unfortunately it’s terrible
It’s hard to ever imagine wanting to give a book zero stars but this one is a definite candidate. After forcing my way threw the first book because the story line was intriguing and had potential. The second book sealed the deal as to how bad this series is. Super predictable, cheesy and not believable what so ever. It’s like Indiana Jones if a 6 year old wrote it,Save your two credits

The clerics vault
While the book and series are good, the narration ruins the story. The
Story is full of fun history, and has interesting plots. Unfortunately, it is hard to take the story seriously when the narrator changes voice for the character s and makes them sound clowns and cartoon like.

The Hunt for the hidden chambers continues
volume 2 of the trilogy does a decent job of continuing the pace of the first book. Decent action and pacing. My biggest gripe is with the narration. Several of the characters sound absolutely identical. In some cases changing their "voice" and becoming identical.
Still, the story is good and I plan on continuing with the series, at least through the trilogy. Recommended for fans of archeological mysteries.
