About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
A case shrouded in secrets.
It’s just before Christmas, 1953. Grasby and Juggers are investigating a puzzling murder in the remote village of Uthley’s Bay. A fisherman has been found dead on the beach, with a stocking wound tight round his throat.
A festive mystery for one and all.
Hundreds of pairs of stockings, in neat cellophane bags, soon wash up on the shore. A blizzard cuts off Grasby and Juggers from help, and the local innkeeper is murdered. Any remaining Christmas cheer goes up in smoke as the villagers refuse to talk, leaving the two detectives chasing false leads in the snow.
A winter wonderland with no escape.
To make matters worse, Grasby can’t stop thinking about stockings. Why does everyone seem to be enjoying strangely high standards of hosiery, even beneath their oilskins? Who is the sinister bespectacled man snooping around their hotel? And how can they solve the murder when everyone in the village is a suspect?

A good one
I recommend this book to anyone who likes a humorous mystery with good characters. The narrator is excellent.

Densil Meyrick brilliant as usual
Yet another fantastic book from Denzil Meyrick. A gripping murder/thriller and brilliantly funny. Cleverly using language from the era but with connotations connected to today. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Gripping murder mystery brilliantly written and narrated with touches of great humour.
I had this on preorder and when it arrived on Audible having read the previous Frank Grasby outing. I wasn’t disappointed . A gripping storyline with some great humour that keeps you engaged to the end . The main character Frank Grasby is likeable and human but also a good detective . Cant wait for the next book !

Hilarious and even better than the 1st!
I didn't think it was possible but this second book was better than the first! I've laughed out loud at some of the antics between Frank and Juggers, what a great pairing! Hurry up and write the next book...please!!!

Juggers wins the day!
Firstly I am afraid the end of chapter one was missing on my download.
I really liked this book .... I liked the one last Christmas just wish Grasby worked at other times of the year! Well written, unusual storyline. Laughed out loud at parts.
It would be nice if a narrator could be found that could do the Yorkshire accent justice. He is ok on the general accent but when it comes to dialect - cringing. It is not pronounced "thou knows" it should be "tha' knows". Dot's voice is just plain weird!
For me Juggers is the star! He provides most of the comedy but also the heroism. How Grasby ever became an inspector is the biggest question throughout the book. His only attribute seems to be a good memory!

Not as good as the first book
It’s a shame and I can’t put my finger on why but I didn’t enjoy this story nearly as much as book 1. Rich characters but a labouring plot that just moved too slowly.
