About this listen
The New York Times best seller.
Transform your life using the Bullet Journal Method, the revolutionary organisational system and worldwide phenomenon.
In his long-awaited first book, Ryder Carroll, the creator of the enormously popular Bullet Journal organisational system, explains how to use his method to:
- Track the past: using nothing more than a pen and paper, create a clear, comprehensive and organised record of your thoughts and goals.
- Order the present: find daily calm by prioritising and minimising your workload and tackling your to-do list in a more mindful and productive way.
- Design the future: establish and appraise your short-term and long-term goals, plan more complex projects simply and effectively and live your life with meaning and purpose.
Like many of us, Ryder Carroll tried everything to get organised - countless apps, systems, planners, you name it. Nothing really worked. Then he invented his own simple system that required only pen and paper, which he found both effective and calming. He shared his method with a few friends, and before long he had a worldwide viral movement. Hundreds of thousands of Bullet Journal fans now spread the word and read Ryder's blog and newsletter.
The system combines elements of a wish list, a to-do list, and a diary. It makes it easy to get thoughts out of your head (an unreliable witness) and onto paper, to see them clearly and decide what to do about them. It helps you identify what matters and set goals accordingly. By breaking long-term goals into small actionable steps, users map out an approachable path towards continual improvement, allowing them to stay focused despite the crush of incoming demands.
But this is much more than a time management book. It's also a manifesto for what Ryder calls 'intentional living': making sure that your beliefs and actions align. Even if you already use a Bullet Journal®, this book gives you new exercises to become more calm and focused, new insights on how to prioritise well and a new awareness of the power of analogue tools in a digital world.

"I stumbled across the idea of the bullet journal in a Facebook thread on productivity. A month in, and I am surprised by how well this system has kept me on task. I have retired my other organising apps. The physicality of my notebook stops me from getting distracted when I am planning my day. It is nice to have a single log of where and how I spend my time. And, crucially, I am much more productive. My email inbox no longer dictates my priorities for the day." (Lilah Raptopoulos, Financial Times)
"The Bullet Journal is a new system taking internet geeks and organising wizards by storm, after being created by Brooklyn-based designer Ryder Carroll, who spent 20 years developing the method so he could stay organised. Essentially, it’s a modern Filofax - a place to dump all your thoughts, organise yourself and also involve your creative side. We love a life hack, what’s not to love?" (Marie Claire)
"As well as the journal’s ability to organise and prioritise tasks, the popularity of pages dedicated to tracking aspects such as mood and gratitude has led experts to believe that bullet journals could be effective in combatting anxiety - as they make tasks easier to approach and deal with." (Independent)

Highly recommended!
For me, this book is just what I was looking for and I connected strongly with almost all of the topics\ideas and approaches discussed. Compared to many similar books there are numerous practical "real world" suggestions on how to implement the key principles of the methodology. I think anyone could read this book and find something that resonates with them and their lives. Definitely something that I will listen to again on a regular basis. Very impressed with the book and the concept behind the methodology generally.

Thank you for sharing your story & this gem
This was just what I needed. and my first audio book too. Well read! I enjoyed your writing.
This is my first year Bullet Journalling. I was drawn to the idea but had many questions about the concept and how it would work. Now I am super excited- and grateful that you put all this context to it. For me My Bullet Journal will be my Planner,Diary, Sketch Book, Habit Tracker just to name a few. All in one place. I also absolutely love how this concept gets me to Stop and focus on me, meditate and live, not just exist. Thank you again for sharing amidst the vulnerability.

Well worth the listen
Ryder Carroll. I am impressed. If this book were music it would be classed in the genre of jazz, for which I have the greatest respect. Jazz within itself has many, many genres some of which, to those who have lazy ears, can be heard as noise. These listeners would be Encouraged to read this book rather than listen to its audio version or they’ll miss the ‘music that’s found between the notes’. Like many of the best things in life this is simple one. The concept is simple, solidly practical, user friendly yet deeply thought provoking, so much so it Really can change your life. I jest not. Well written. Listen - Think - then Do. No wonder this has created a movement (Bujo community). Thank you Ryder Carroll.

#Bujo forever
Ryder Carroll has created something marvellous. For years I have struggled, not just with a certain degree of OCD when it came to my notebook and organising it in a way that makes sense, but also with organising myself to be the best I can be. Bullet Journalling, while this has been a brief adventure has seen me in the first week of using the system with greater clarity over my goals and objectives. The concepts that accompany the book have been ideas that have changed my life in a remarkable and exponential way.

Life changing advice
This book - or should I say the method described- has profoundly changed my life and mindset. I was a disordered slightly OCD post-it type. Now most things happen on time and without me worrying about the details for weeks ahead. I know everything is in order because my BuJo shows that I’ve thought about this beforehand.
Thank you Ryder for organizing my life - almost for me.
