Summary
New York Times, USA Today, and number one Wall Street Journal best seller • Forget hustling. This book, from the author of The Code of the Extraordinary Mind, will disrupt your deeply held beliefs about work, success, and, indeed, life.
If you’re the average person in the developed world, you spend 70 percent of your waking hours at work. And if you’re the average person, you’re miserable for most of those hours. This is simply not an acceptable state of affairs for your one shot at life. No matter your station, you possess incredible unique powers. It’s a modern myth that hard work and hustle are the paths to success. Inside you is a soul. And once you unleash it fully into the domain of work, magic happens. Awakening the Buddha and the Badass inside you is a process that will disrupt the way you work altogether. You’ll gain access to tools that bend the very rules of reality.
- The Buddha is the archetype of the spiritual master. The person who can live in this world but also move with an ease, grace, and flow that comes from inner awareness and alignment.
- The Badass is the archetype of the changemaker. This is the person who is out there creating change, building, coding, writing, inventing, leading. The badass represents the benevolent disruptor - the person challenging the norms so we can be better as a species.
Once you integrate the skill sets of both archetypes, you will experience life at a different level from most people. You will operate from a space of bliss, ease, inspiration, and abundance. The Buddha and the Badass: The Secret Spiritual Art of Succeeding at Work will show you how. Author of the New York Times best seller The Code of the Extraordinary Mind and founder of Mindvalley, Vishen Lakhiani has turned his own life and company into his research lab. He’s codified everything he’s learned into the how-to steps in this book. The Buddha and the Badass teaches you how to master your work and your life.

Disappointed it wasn’t Vishen reading this
I absolutely loved his first book and was really excited to listen to this one... the moment I heard what sounded like a computerised voice it completely changed it all for me... I couldn’t concentrate on the message as the tone and passion wasn’t Vishen and the one I had grown to respect and listen too...
I kept switching off, however hard I tried to listen, the voice was so unnatural and distorted the message.
Vishen please record your words as you are a big part of your message, without your voice it doesn’t feel as authoritative and effective.
Maybe I need to buy a hard copy... but very disappointed with the audio...

So dull
So I've read and appreciated quite a few books on Buddhism.
I run my own business.
That coupled with my continuous aim for improvement of myself and my business. and the past reviews .... this seemed like a great book.
Wrong.
Of course, Vishen is successful and obviously knows his stuff - but man!
I often give books that don't grab me an hour .... I gave this 2 based on past reviews, but no more!
Dull .... nothing to implement (urless you're maybe starting up some monster, many people business!) and so much 'the universe is welcoming' talk .... too much fluff and not enough practical, go away and use info.
The book is being returned.

A book about how to be yourself and create goodness
Really enjoyed the read. I wish Vishen himself got to read it. A book that is there to make you realise that your belief system is what holds you back in life.

Inspiring and Empowering!
Inspiring and Empowering for individual growth as well as for organisations and business environments. Full of resourceful applications and step-by-step follow-ups. You can only go better and up reading or just listening to Vishen's book, and of course by internalizing his insightful teachings and tools. If you get the audiobook like I did, Vikas Adam is expressing a wonderful narration with clarity and passion.

Nothing like code of the extraordinary mind
I had high expectations for this book but unfortunately it didn't live up to them. All filler and not much killer.

Amazing book, always learning something new
I have really enjoyed this book, great principles and content, i would happily recommend this to anyone after reading and listening to the code of the extraordinary mind i've been blown away by the content from Vishen and what he has created with mindvalley. The only downside I would say is that it would have been even more better if Vishen had narrated the audiobook like he did with his previous book, this is no discredit to Vikas. I guess having always listened to the mindvalley podcast as well i have got so used to hearing the details come from Vishen himself bar this the rest of the principles in the book are priceless. Thanks for continuing to put out great actionable content.

it was a struggle to listen too
Never realised before how much a voice could impact the experience. I struggled with listening to book and it was an endurance to the end. Felt like a boring lecture. I missed Vishen narration, passion. I should have listened the clip before buying. Sure many of VIshen lessons were missed. Lesson for me about how important the narration is.

Strictly for diehard fans of Mindvalley only.
No accompanying pdf for this Audlble. Not read by author. A lot of rehash and repeat of materials mentioned in author first book, Code of Extraordinary Mind. A lot of self promotion and marketing for Mindvalley products. Don't get this audiobook. Diehard fans should buy his book instead. I liked his first book, not this 2nd work.

Inspired & empowered
What a timely book?! Buddha & the badass is a worthwhile journey that holds an inspired & empowered vision for transforming work, and consequently the world. As a veteran people & culture leader, it is heartening to see Vishen give words, frameworks and examples of how we must grow as leaders to achieve our grandest vision. How we can make others better and unleash their genius as part of the process. My only complaint is that Vishen didn’t record the audio version of the book in his own voice. The narrator does a great job of it, but it’s just not the same. Vishen, if you are reading this, know that there is a unique power locked in these words of yours that can only be unleashed with your voice!

The potential for a great book is in there
This is a good book. It could have been great, with the right additing.
Stories repeat themselves. Too much name dropping. Lots of cliché descriptions. Topics patched together loosely, like someone had his reasoning but didn't bother too much with tying things together.
BUT, it does worth your time and money. You will get inspired and learn, and find drive to change your life and your identity.
After "The Code of the Extraordinary Mind" by the same author, I had high expectations, but this book is not at the same level of writing. If you haven't read his previous book, start with that one.
Also, performance is terrible, slow and disengaging. if you choose to listen, play is faster...

it's a bit redundant if you read the code of an ex
This book it's ok and has some good insights but I didn't find it as nearly inspiring as the code of an extraordinary mind. That one is a book I'd recommend, this one is just ok, in my opinion.

The Buddha and the Badass
This book started off great, Still I felt like I wanted to be a part of Mindvalley, which sounds like a fun place to work. I love the end where everything came together and I could see the vision of the book and the lessons the writer wanted the readers to understand. In all I really like this book.

Lots of golden nuggets in here
Vishen did it again! This book is a blueprint for creating a better life. I’ve known him for 4 years now and have to say: Vishen walks his talk and this book is a result of long years of delving deep into personal development, entrepreneurship as well as constant experimentation. Highly recommended.
