About this listen
From master storyteller Nick Louth comes the third installment in the DCI Craig Gillard series. Perfect for fans of Robert Bryndza, Angela Marsons and Faith Martin.
A body is found on a quiet lane in Exmoor, victim of a hit and run.
He has no ID, no wallet, no phone, and - after being dragged along the road - no recognisable face.
Meanwhile, fresh from his last case, DCI Craig Gillard is unexpectedly called away to Devon on family business. Gillard is soon embroiled when the car in question is traced to his aunt.
As he delves deeper, a dark mystery reveals itself, haunted by family secrets, with repercussions Gillard could never have imagined. The past has never been deadlier.

Enjoyed this book
Disliked the way Sam was portrayed in this book - she comes across as clueless and irritating at times. But enjoyed the story overall

I have been listening to previous book in this series which I have enjoyed, I must say this has been the best. Narrator is excellent too.

Excellent book
This 3rd book expands the main character and we learn about his family and what a family!!! This is very different to the previous 2 books as it is all about Gillard and his family. I like this as now I have learned more about him I want to see how things develop from book to book. I like to know about the characters and not hurt the detective story and this series is hitting every mark. I am now straight onto the next book.

Excellent book - compulsive listening
This book was excellent, the story line was very good an absolute page turner so to speak. I read the first one and listened to the 2nd one. Can't wait to hear the next one in the series. The narrator was brilliant and really makes the storyline.

Good story
This was indeed a good plot, but did not enjoy the reader. I recommend it with reservations.

Intriguing
Liked the story tellers voice and kept you guessing til the end. The ending, however, was a surprise and not the happy ever after I was expecting with a new baby on the way and still linked very closely in distance to Craig’s relatives. Was Tricia guilty one has to ask?

Some good, some incredible
Kept my interest throughout with many twists at the end. Recommended despite stretching credibility at times.

An easy listen.............
Not the most riveting story but an easy listen. It's a bit far fetched in places (full dig on circumstantial evidence is not going to happen with police budgets!) but if you let those bits go it's an ok book. Not sure I'll rush to get another one.
Narrator took a while to get use to but not the worst I've heard.
